Had my third zoo visit of this year to Burgers' Zoo. I had a decent run with ungulates, as I was able to get all eligible encounters bar Indian hog deer (despite 4 or 5 visits to it's enclosure!). If others who take part in this challenge visit soon: remember to check the separation paddocks at the end of the Safari bridge (close to the restaurant). I almost missed Beisa because they were in there all day!

I hope I will put some excitement in this challenge with the next post. I was planning to wait for the Carnivore house ( or The Empire of Cats) to open, but with such an uncertainty in the World, better early than never. The Pheasantry was the only house closed, so the Javan Chevrotain gave me harsh time, but eventually the both animals came out to eat.

I wouldn't miss the Tierpark, of course :) I had a great time there today and I will add to the total. Thank you very much for the recognition @Penshet , but I don't feel winner. The challenge gives very good opportunities for outdoor sightings and there are zoos out there, which can change the score overnight.

Congratulations, you are already above my UK only leading total of 83 and possible total of 90. I have absolutely no intention of risking quarantine etc by leaving the UK so that is me done for the year.

Thank you @pipaluk, but aren't man able to travel from UK to Mainland with Vaccination Certificate or Test, without quarantine?

Technically yes, but the risks of going on a plane to Berlin (which would probably win the challenge) aren't worth the risk and to be honest I won't bother going there until all developments are finished in 2 years plus

Another correction and another visit! I didn't realize in time manatees are also part of this challenge so I added it to the Burgers' list.

In Blijdorp I had a blast even though my walk through the zoo was relatively quick. I keep repeating the pattern of almost perfect scores, as this time I missed the pudu but saw everything else (including, though not countable, the recently born baby elephant!). Most exciting for me was the Balabac chevrotain, which are becoming increasingly scarce in Europe.

Currently there's only a handful of species left to see in the Netherlands. I think a combination Artis and Dierenrijk would yield the most additions, but even if I manage to visit both I can theoretically only add eight new species, and I highly doubt I will visit both. But who knows. Fun challenge nonetheless.
