Yesterday I again visited the Reptilian-fair at Houten - the Netherlands and again loads of reptiles, insests, spiders and of course amphibians - mainly frogs and toads. I still have to work myself through the large amount of pictures I took but for sure 15 - 20 species I hadn't seen before this year and maybe 5 - 10 Lifers for me but again... they don't count for the Challenge :(.
Evenso I'm quite happy I saw again such a diversity of species and from many I took nice and or decent photos. Some of them I've already posted in the Netherlands - other Gallery.

Catching up with some old book keeping. After Japan I visited several significant collections in North-east China but all bar Beijing had no amphibians on-show. The last few months have seen almost no visiting, a trend that will continue until August when I get to Europe, since I don't expect much from North-west China in July.

What are some of the other species kept? Was Conant’s mushroom-tongue salamander still exhibited?

Conant's Mushroom-Tongue is still on exhibit, though I unfortunately didn't see it. They also keep:

  • Green Salamander
  • Northern Dusky Salamander
  • Cave Salamander
  • Northern Slimy Salamander
  • Red Salamander
  • Four-toed Salamander
  • Northern Two-lined Salamander
  • Hellbender
  • Green-and-black Poison Dart Frog
  • Phantasmal/Anthony's Poison Dart Frog
  • Dyeing Poison Dart Frog
  • Blue Poison Dart Frog
Most of these are very difficult to locate. I got lucky with the Long-tailed Salamander above.

One I forgot from Columbus:

25. Axolotl Ambystoma mexicanum

I didn't know that there is/was any Bolitoglossa on display in captivity! That's interesting to know.
Toledo has quite a few individuals, mostly behind the scenes of course. Some were received a couple years back for a breeding project (which has thus far been successful!).

First time I'm doing anything like this, so forgive me if I made any mistakes.

Welcome!

As far as the stubfoot toads go, @TeaLovingDave or @ShonenJake13 will have a better understanding of what's actually in Europe than I will. Seeing as it's the only Atelopus on your list atm and the species at Bronx is definitely different, though, your current listing for them is fine unless somebody corrects it.

Koln holds the only individuals on public display whether one lists them as hoogmoedi or flavescens, so the name used won't matter :)
