41/42/43 Common/Mallorcan/Iberian Midwife Toads - Alytes obstetricans/muletensis/cisternasii (large aquarium with mixed tadpoles of all three species)

Were the tadpoles individually identifiable? Or are you just assuming (or even knew) that there were large numbers of all three and you must have seen them? If it was the latter my instinct is that it might not count.

I think @ThylacineAlive should rule on this. Not only because it does seem like a grey area but also because I will visit London myself

Very large number of tadpoles, so I guess among them was at least one of all three species,

Very large number of tadpoles, so I guess among them was at least one of all three species,

@ShonenJake13 will have to explain the current set up for the midwife toads are London before I can rule. From memory, on my two visits they had separate terrariums for the two species (they didn't have three at the time) as well as the tank with tadpoles but I don't remember if it was mixed or not.

@AWP the tadpoles are Mallorcan. The Iberian and common ones are present as adults and can be seen in the vivs at the back of the room.

Also from what I hear the two-lined caecilian has died so it should just be two Congo caecilians in that viv on the side of the Aquarium!

The signages next to the window still names both, but for what I could see only the Congo caecilian was named on the vivarium itself.

Two potential new species were no-shows: the Andean marsupial frog and the tomato frog.

May I ask you where you saw the Sira poison frog ? I've visited De Oliemeulen 9 times this year but sofar not seen this species.

Good question, I don't know anymore. Oliemeulen doesn't have a map that I could find, and this was my first visit so I don't know the layout of the zoo very well. I do recall that they were signed, and in a terrarium with a Dendrobates species.

That is the synonym for the Pasco dart frog (Ranitomeya lamasi), according to ZTL. I saw that one in May (see my list). It was kept in a terrarium with the Anguilla anole.

Yesterday spend a VERY rainy day at one of my former working-places : Pairi Daiza. At Pairi Daiza a small but intresting amphibian collection is kept at 3 different places :
The Crypte
The SS Mersus Emergo ( "the Reptilian boat" )
In the Chinese part of the park
Of a potential 6 new species I was able to see 3 new species for the Challenge :
34 - Emperor newt - Tylototriton shanjing

Missed 3 further species which I have not seen sofar on public view this year:
- Chinese giant salamander - Andrias davidianus in the Chinese part of the park

- Madagascar tomato frog - Dyscophus antongilii also at the SS Mersus Emergo

Species also kept at Pairi Daiza but which I had already seen at other collections this year are :

Antwerps on-show amphibian collection is not very large and next to the Mountain chicken a number of more common species ( Dart frogs, clawed frogs and Amazon milk frogs ) are kept but these I had already all seen earlier this year.
But evenso Antwerp has a name in Amphibian-keeping in the Zoo-world and behind the scenes breeding-programms for species like the Kaiser's spotted newt and Strawberry frogs are very succesfull.
