ZooChat Challenge Global 2020

Gosh I thought I’d put in an entry for this already!! To catch up here is my total for the year so far:

Twycross Zoo

1. Western grey kangaroo
2. Red-necked wallaby

Hamerton Zoo

3. Common wombat
4. Swamp wallaby
5. Squirrel glider
6. Parma wallaby
7. Tiger quoll
8. Long-nosed potoroo
No Brush-tailed possum?

No Brush-tailed possum?

The enclosure in the aviary is currently empty. The golden ones were a no show, but that’s hardly surprising given my visit occurred in the middle of Storm Dennis and they’re not showy even on the best weather days!

1. Red-necked wallaby (Notamacropus rufogriseus)

Antwerp Zoo, 17/01/2020
2. Goodfellow's tree-kangaroo (Dendrolagus goodfellowi)
3. Eastern grey kangaroo (Macropus giganteus)
4. Parma wallaby (Notamacropus parma)
5. Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus)
Wildlands Adventure Zoo, 10/02/2020
6. Swamp wallaby (Wallabia bicolor)

From a rare mid-week Melbourne visit:
5. Tasmanian devil - Sarcophilus harrisii

And a frankly disappointing total from a trip to Healesville today:
6. Short-beaked echidna - Tachyglossus aculeatus
7. Red kangaroo - Macropus rufus
8. Goodfellow’s tree-kangaroo - Dendrolagus goodfellowi
9. Brush-tailed bettong - Bettongia penicillata
10. Sugar glider - Petaurus breviceps
11. Squirrel glider - Petaurus norfolcensis
12. Greater bilby - Macrotis lagotis
13. Northern quoll - Dasyurus hallucatus
14. Fat-tailed dunnart - Sminthopsis crassicaudata
15. Mountain pygmy possum - Burramys parvus
16. Red-necked wallaby - Macropus bennetti
17. Brush-tailed rock-wallaby - Petrogale penicillata

Pretty sure I won’t be winning this one.

A reasonably productive day, though common wombats continue to evade me, as absurd as that sounds..

Phillip Island Wildlife Park
18. Red-necked Pademelon - Thylogale thetis
19. Swamp Wallaby - Wallabia bicolor
20. Spotted-tail Quoll - Dasyurus maculatus
21. Parma Wallaby - Macropus parma
22. Tammar wallaby - Macropus eugenii
23. Black-striped Wallaby - Macropus dorsalis
24. Common Wallaroo - Macropus robustus
25. Eastern Grey Kangaroo - Macropus giganteus

Moonlit Sanctuary
26. Feathertail glider - Acrobates pygmaeus
27. Yellow-bellied glider - Petaurus australis
28. Long-nosed potoroo - Potorous tridactylus

Very likely that I’ve already seen a good two-thirds of my annual total.

Correct format please :p

Scientific names would be appreciated moving forward as well :)

(not that I imagine we'll have a whole lot of confusion as to which common name is for which species as far as marsupials are concerned)
