ZooChat Challenge Global 2022

Great job, but it's already out of date, sorry! :(:p
Curses! May both sides of your pillow be excruciatingly warm tonight and rob you of any chance of a good night's sleep... :p

ZooChat Challenge Global 2022 - Tracker

And now to the rest of you pesky ZooChatters....stop visiting zoos so I don't have to do the totally unnecessary job that none of you made me do! :P

hopefully the work I've put into this spreadsheet to keep track of everyone's lists will be of good value :D.

ZooChat Challenge Global 2022 - Tracker

Great job @ZooBinh ! It started to be difficult to keep track, especially for the Gekkota. I will wait for the last update until tomorrow :):p

Exmoor Zoo 04.07.22
89) Fanaloka Fossa Fossana
.
Sorry @Skukuza, but Eupleridae not count :)

@Brum How long time you spent at Hamerton? I really wanted to see the Golden Possum and the Ringtail Possum, but they proven to be very hard catch. BTW, Hopping mouse is Muridae, so all good :)

I just did some final edits to the sheets to squash out repeats. What is on the list is what is most accurate, and that does mean people's counts were tampered with to take out repeats, so I'll let those participants know so that there's no surprise:

@birdsandbats you included Hippopotamus twice.
@Brum you included African Crested Porcupine twice.
@twilighter you included Mongolian Gerbil twice.

That should be it!

thanks for letting me know, will remove from future lists. I thought it was a civet in the true sense and not just name. I’ve learnt something today :)

Fanaloka was actually part of the family Viverridae in the past and, as you said, her other name is Malagasy Civet :) Nowadays all Madagascar Carnivores are part of family Eupleridae.

Thanks, missed that but now I've corrected it above with a species I'd forgot about... :)

@Brum How long time you spent at Hamerton? I really wanted to see the Golden Possum and the Ringtail Possum, but they proven to be very hard catch.
Spent about 5 hours there, from just before midday until not long before closing. I keep telling myself there's always next time but next time still doesn't yield any possums... :(:p

34. Pygmy slow loris, Nycticebus pygmaeus

At London. Been to two zoos in two days (ZSL and Arundel WWT) but that’s my only addition.

Tip for anyone trying to spot the Pygmy slow loris at London - duck down so you can see the top of the exhibit, they stick to the topmost branches :).

Nice visit to Hamerton today - a ton of additions but still not nearly as many as I could have - possums as ever elusive, as were cuscuses, jackal, etc. Did see the lynx though...

50. Tayra, Eira barbara
51. Masked palm civet, Paguma larvata
52. White-nosed coati, Nasua narica

Still, 18 additions (out of a possible 33...) but still a nice visit. Posting pics later. I might be able to rescue my pretty paltry score over the summer depending on whether or not I actually make it to the places planned.
