ZooChat Challenge Global 2023 - 10th Anniversary Special!

I need to fill some important gaps in my top 50 European zoo list and Beauval and Le Bioparc de Doué-la-Fontaine were probably the two most important institutions on the continent where I have never been. I was happy to change this last week. They are rightfully deserve their glory and I highly recommend the whole Loire Valley area in the heart of France. Added also the two Paris zoos, Parc des Félins (+Terre De Singes, not to be underestimated), Aquarium Porte de Doree and the three Lisbon collections on the way home.

Started the turtles/tortoises count from 53 instead of 54.

Please do not yell at me if I happened to type a species twice, or made a mistake anywhere. This is just for fun, so such actions should be frowned upon. If I happened to make a mistake, please let me know with a smiley face so that I can tell you are not mean. Thank you! Happy hunting, fellow Zoochatters!

I can see at least a couple of errors there.

Island Hoppers Challenge See animals fully endemic to islands:
Mammal Species 1: Sumatran Tiger ZooMiami 1/3/2023
Subspecies don't count - the species as a whole needs to be an island endemic.

@Leaf Productions — I’ll let others tackle the rest of it, but as it is my area of expertise… for Bovids:
  1. You have slender-horned gazelle listed twice. Rhim gazelle is just another name for slender-horned.
  2. The SDZSP doesn’t have greater kudu, so you did not see them there. You likely just saw the male lowland nyala in Central Africa.
  3. That said, Zoo Miami does not have lesser kudu, but they do have greater kudu. This should not be a loss, as you very likely saw the lessers at the SDZ, so it shouldn’t affect your numbers.
  4. Ellipsen and defassa waterbuck are considered the same species by the IUCN, so only one counts for the challenge.

Not in the genus Corvus.

Subspecies don't count - the species as a whole needs to be an island endemic.
Another error is that Roger Williams Park Zoo does not keep Eastern diamondback rattlesnakes (it's Timber rattlesnakes they have), so for Usborne's Scavenger Hunt Challrnge there would've been no way that species has been seen at RWPZ.

Thank you all for being so gentle.

will remove but doesn’t really affect it since I’m just 100%’ing this one for fun lol

  4. Ellipsen and defassa waterbuck are considered the same species by the IUCN, so only one counts for the challenge.
thank you king. Unfortunately hoofstock is not my forte but thank you for assisting. Your generosity will be repaid.

Replaced with raven, and giant Luzon cloud rat. Specifics will follow with my next update whenever that may be
