ZooChat Challenge UK 2018

For what it's worth. I'll never win this!

Wildwood 28/5/18
140 Arctic Fox

Dormitator may well pip us both to the post...

Also, the one thing with getting so far in the list is that things start to slow down from here; looking like my best bets for a lot of these are returns to Devon/Cornwall, plus a less than likely trip to Scotland...

A couple of questions: Are any of the Woolly monkeys at Monkey World the correct ones for the challenge? The chipmunks at Axe Valley were labelled as Eastern, and the book is looking for Siberian - I don't suppose they happen to be the same?

Monkey World
106 Patas monkey

Axe Valley Wildlife Park
107 White-cheeked turaco

Nope. Eastern chipmunks come from Eastern North America while Siberian chipmunks are an Old World species.

Woolly monkeys can be counted at monkey world; did you not see crimson rosella or Fischer’s lovebird at Axe Valley? They’re my main reasons for wanting to revisit Devon later in the year, and I don’t fancy a trip up to Lincolnshire!

Darn it about the chipmunk, but yay for the Woollies. Argh at the rosella and lovebird at Axe Valley - I have done my knee in and it was very painful hobbling around, so I didn't linger. I will live to regret that!

Amended total:
Monkey World
106 Patas monkey
107 Woolly monkey

Axe Valley Wildlife Park
108 White-cheeked turaco

We went to Bristol today and hunted high and low for the Gouldian Finch before asking a keeper if they still held them. She said they left the collection about a year ago...

Having looked back at my photos, I can't find any record of the small birds I saw in one of the aviaries...in fairness they were silhouetted, so I shouldn't have assumed they were Gouldian finches haha
That brings me back to 142

However, after today:

Howletts Wild Animal Park

143) Gelada
