3. Brown Howler Monkey

4. Guatemalen Howler Monkey

5. Spider monkey

These three entries will need revising - the only two species of howler in Europe are black (A.caraya) and Venezuelan red (A.seniculus), so the chances are you just saw regular black, where the males are dark and females are blonde.
As for spider monkey, according to zootierliste Blackpool keep Colombian black so again you’re going to want to edit that entry!

So to sum up it should now read:

3. Black howler monkey
4. Colombian black spider monkey

And you should end up with a total of 27

I would actually like to know what the rules are here as some species (eg Bactrian camel, yak, Japanese quail) are only represented by their domesticated form...

I believe the standing rule is that domestics do not count.

However.....

Does Cotswold have wild Muscovy?

It certainly did when I last visited :) as did Slimbridge.

Just checking;)- I saw them at Slimbridge last month- though they have just one pair nowadays, but don't remember them at Cotswold.* The genuine wild version has always been a relatively uncommon species in the UK.

* Have found them in the Zoochat gallery for Cotswold, dated a few years back, so presumably they still have them. Great species- the wild version.

Not the best weather to visit Hamerton, but as I was nearby, I couldn't resist a visit anyway. After several circuits, I saw most of the available species

There was also a green/red parrot in with the Daubenton's curassow, unsigned. I may add at a later date if it's south american .

That's a ballsy inclusion (though allowable per the rules) -I suspect I'm more South American than that owl. :D

Only if you go with the lumpiest definition of the species :p generally speaking the New World races are split into Tyto furcata now.

Many thanks for that clarification (I don't know how you taxonomy nerds keep up with all these developments). I've reviewed the situation and unfortunately for Magpie Goose, unless the bird was labelled Tyto furcata, I'll have to disallow it (blame TLD for schooling us).

Phew, I was morally uncomfortable allowing it -although the rules flex for practical reasons it did seem a bit absurd (it's one thing not knowing the provenance of a Jaguar which couldn't be found "that far" from South America but quite another for a world-ranging "species"). Bless taxonomy changes (in this instance).:)

Finally, I would point out that there are some, allowable, American Barn Owls in UK collections (mainly small birds of prey centres).
