Sessions (visits) by device type - last 12 months
... and compared to previous 12 months.
This fits with patterns I'm seeing on my other sites - desktop is dropping quickly and being replace by mobile. Tablet is also dropping as mobile devices become more powerful and so people don't need tablets as much.
Interestingly, these stats don't show anywhere near as much mobile penetration as I get on most of my other sites - which is possibly down to 3 factors: 1) the international nature of the site (powerful mobile phones and internet access is expensive in some areas?), 2) the demographics (some of my other sites have a high number of office workers who spend a lot of time commuting on public transport and that's when they view the site), and 3) We've only had a mobile-friendly site for just over 6 months now (that would be the main differentiator I think).
On my largest site, mobile phones now account for the majority of site visits.
Anyway, I think the stats over the next 12 months will be very telling now that we have a mobile friendly site ... I expect these stats to show mobile usage much closer to that of desktop usage as more people view the site from a phone.
I guess I could try and break down the usage by region to see who is using what!?
