ZooChat t-shirts

Has there been a thread on this already? (Looks in Chlidonias's direction. :D)

Anyway, does ZooChat sell t-shirts and polo shirts etc? If not, would the site's owner(s) mind if I printed my own, for my own personal use?

I was thinking of a polo shirt with the ZooChat logo on the front-left, and maybe on the back, have something like

ZooChat :: Zoo and Animal Conservation Community
It's a zoo thing (or something slightly wittier - open to suggestions)

So, what's the word? Surely many of us here wouldn't mind buying/wearing a ZooChat t-shirt?

Ok, the website didn't appear the way it should have.

It should have been www dot zoochat dot com.

well done nanoboy, you have managed to come up with a thread subject that did not already exist!!

And now I must curse you, if you don't mind, because you have put into my head the really nerdy idea of having t-shirts made for Zoochat get-togethers! (On the back or front something like "Singapore Zoochat Gathering 2012" or whatever). What a sad sad person I am.

Excellent way of identifying ZooChat members at meet-ups. It could save a lot of embarrassment ;)

I raised this issue with Sim a couple of years ago and he said he was busy atm but it was in the pipeline!

We cannot do it without his approval.

Ah! The old saying that comes to mind is "it's easier to ask for forgiveness, than to ask for permission". :D

Sim, what's the word? Let's do it! You can set it up with an online memorabilia company so that all profits come back to ZooChat. Or you can vet our private, personal designs - free advertisement for the website.

If this actually happens do we need to start thinking of t-shirt slogans?

"I spent half of my life on ZooChat and all I got was this lousy t-shirt (and a bunch of information and opinions about zoos)."

I want a T-shirt as well! :)

Obviously the desire is there (from me too). It is a matter of setting up a place that will allow orders of one at a time and can ship internationally. This may be a bit tricky. If someone really wants to take this on, perhaps they can contact Sim to see if he wants to let them pursue it.

As for having slogans related to a specific meetup, I think it makes more sense just to have a generic design that can be worn at any time. Perhaps just the bird logo on the front chest pocket area and the web url in large letters on the back. Maybe the back broken up into three lines (to make the letter larger) www(dot) on the top then ZooChat on the middle and (dot)com on the bottom.

Also sweatshirts as well as t-shirts (and hopefully long sleeve t-shirts in addition to short sleeve). I know some small groups here in the USA use an online service called CafePress to sell their merchandise. Perhaps that would work for ZooChat as well?

Definitely looks like CafePress is a good way to go. Just create an account and upload your design at no cost. They put it on whatever you want to offer (shirts, mugs, bottles, etc) and people order through them. International orders no problem, pay with credit card or paypal. They print everything, stock everything, fulfill everything, then send a portion of the profits to the owner. Store owner does not need to do anything except create the storefront and upload the design.

How long did it take you to get your "zoochat supporter" avatar? I am still waiting on mine. :(
I think Sim is really busy, so he may not answer my messages. Maybe we need one of his friends on here to email him personally with our t-shirt proposal.

Initially the supporter icon showed up pretty quick. But on my first renewal it disappeared and took a while to get it back. However, this was during a period (about a year or year and a half ago) when Sim disappeared for a few months and no one was able to get hold of him. Since he came back he has been reachable as far as I know. Have you tried sending him a Private Message?

Yup, tried PM'ing him. I really want to get rid of the ads too. The badge is a bonus. I made a donation, but immediately cancelled my "subscription" (i.e. auto-renewal) - that's just a policy of mine, because I don't do it with utility bills or magazines as I prefer to manually renew. Maybe that's why.

Anyway, back to the t-shirts: one of you guys (moderators?) could email him if you too are interested in the t-shirts. I'm thinking a black t-shirt for me. :D
