Zoochat (Tea)Cup 2025

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has been participating in the Chester vs Prague matches but skipping the Zoo Berlin vs Tierpark Berlin matches regarding their reasons, as once again we have had a vibrant match for the former, but a somewhat insipid match for the latter!

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Tierpark Berlin vs Zoo Berlin - GRASSLAND AND DESERT

Tierpark Berlin - 36/60 points - 60.000%
Zoo Berlin - 24/60 points - 40.000%

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Chester vs Prague - CARNIVORES

Chester -- 62/110 points - 56.364%
Prague - 48/110 points - 43.636%

Hopefully the next pair of matches will see more conversation and discussion in both cases!

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Tierpark Berlin vs Zoo Berlin - MOUNTAINS AND POLES

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Chester vs Prague - ECTOTHERMS

I hope everyone is continuing to find these additional matches fun :)

I have not been to any of these two zoos personally. If someone made posts with photos about the discussed exhibits or something, I'd happily join the conversation, but it's basically impossible like this.

I haven't been to either and though I have engaged with the matches when I've studied the competitors (particularly if I haven't visited one of them), I find I mix them up a bit if I am to be honest. I've read the matches with interest but I didn't feel I'd be able to vote either way most of the time as there wasn't enough information to really go on. I like the back and forth points of view and am happy to be persuaded; expertise is fun. I think otherwise I looked when they came up the first time around.

I suspect part of the issue is that more of the people who participated in Berlin-based matches in the main body of the Cup have taken to sitting things out for these bonus matches... although this is also the case to a lesser degree in the Prague/Chester matches too.

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Tierpark Berlin vs Zoo Berlin - MOUNTAINS AND POLES

Tierpark Berlin - 53/85 points - 62.353%
Zoo Berlin - 32/85 points - 37.547%

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Chester vs Prague - ECTOTHERMS

Chester -- 39/85 points - 45.882%
Prague - 46/85 points - 54.118%

Lets see what everyone makes of these:

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Tierpark Berlin vs Zoo Berlin (ISLANDS)

HEAD-TO-HEAD PROTOTYPE: Chester vs Prague (MISCELLANEOUS MAMMALS)

Enjoy!

Maybe i'm a little late but my theory is, that the both Berlins are despite their differences to similar

Let's take a look at Prague and Chester first. Both are without a doubt magnificent zoos. But, and this is very important at the face of, they also have a very different approach to do so. And exactly this is what imo thrives most of the Chester - Prague matches.

On the other hand both Berlin zoos share the same director and work closely together. Therefore their approach at being a zoo is very similar. Just take a look at the renovated "Reich der Jäger" at the Zoo and the ABH at the Tierpark. Regarding large cats, you can probably do a copy and past critic if you have finished the first one. So despite some historical structures, you can only count species which is fine at a one time match, but regarding the extent of the face off it is imo kind of boring.

Just a quick note to say we will return to the regularly-scheduled matches in a few days, as I've been far too tired each night after a busy day of wildlife watching and/or zoo visiting to keep on top of things :)
