ZooChat v4 suggestions

Because sometimes, searching for "violet turaco" will also get you pictures of every aviary with violet starling and red-crested turaco. So it would help being able to search for "violet turaco" in that order

This wasn't the best example since there's a lot of pictures of Violet turaco, it's way more common/annoying with rarer species, of which there aren't all that many photos. Had it happen today again

Search term: "Cape shoveler"

Search filter suggestion:

One thing I’d see great value in is a ‘Older Than’ filter in the search tab (like how we have a ‘Newer Than’ filter).

Others may disagree, but I find it easier to search posts made within the last 5-10 years by keyword alone as they’re fresh in my mind (or I was even part of the discussion).

An example would be wanting to search posts about red pandas held in Australian zoos from the 2000’s, without bringing up posts about red pandas made over the past decade and a half.

Another example is the fact that, if there's a lot of pictures of a certain animal, you can only look at 25 pages of search results. Having an "older than" option would allow people to actually see all results by inputting the date of the photos from page 25 of search results

Here's another one: the ability to search through your own media if you want to do a media embed. Wanted to embed one of my own pictures today, but it's from 2023 and that's a lot of scrolling...

You can do that now by using the search box - go to the media section, put in the photo title and your username and make sure the "search media only" is ticked. Done.

Something I noticed a while ago is that one you give something a rating, you can't retract that rating. Doesn't really matter of course because why would you want to, but now due to a misclick I've got this

Again, doesn't matter all that much, just something to consider

Not sure how complicated this one is to do, but one thing I would love to see on ZooChat before you post is a "Show Preview" button option similar to those on wikis to show what your post will look like before you post it, which will be especially useful when attaching images, links, and some certain other content, as well as to make sure you are happy with your post to be posted.

There already is a preview function, it's just slightly hidden.

Press on "more options" when writing a post to get the full screen version, then you get the option to preview

A suggestion I have a little more than a month before the new year is to be able to quote posts from locked threads to put in other threads (e.g yearly news/population threads from previous years that have been closed by moderators) so that we don't have to look back just to check and make it simpler to find the related discussion. The only problem may be that there's going to need to be a way so that replies are locked from that thread but posts from that thread can still be quoted and can be inserted into other threads. Particularly leaning more towards popular threads, like the elephant population threads for example, which get a very high number of posts, so it would be great to be able to quote posts to show discussion from last year's.
