Lawson was in charge of logistics on an expedition to find Diprotodon remains. Late one evening, as the expedition was drawing to a close, Stirton found a bone bed. Sounds like that would interrupt planned sleep!

That's interesting, TZ, but I'm thinking of a genus described by Lawson and linked with loss of sleep

That's right, Tetzoo Quizzer. Well done

I liked that name when I first heard it. l remember a radio programme which discussed amusing animal names. I'm glad some naturalists have a sense of humour

Now it's your turn

Prehistoric question 10; It was suggested that an Argentinian fossil indicated the existence of a back-fanged poisonous snake of enormous length; what did the fang actually turn out to be?

Was the snake 'Najash', a snake with robust hind limbs, which were previously suspected to be fangs?

The 'fang' came from a Chiragra spider conch (Lambis chirarga). I was thinking of a spider conch yesterday, but couldn't find a link to a snake fang.
