Just about all of us are aware of ZooLex, the outstanding website that contains many spectacular zoo exhibits from all around the globe. I made a list of the number of enclosures that are on that site, and there are currently 115 exhibits profiled from 68 different zoos or aquariums.

Curiousity got the better of me, and so I spent some time adding up all the nations and zoos on the site. It's intriguing that more than 55% of the exhibits profiled on ZooLex come from either an American or German zoo. There are 65 exhibits just from those two countries! I'm not attempting to make any kind of political point here as I am a Canadian and there are zero Canadian zoos represented, and perhaps those two nations were more readily able to provide accurate data...but at the same time the United States and Germany are well regarded as two of the premier countries in the world for incredible zoos and aquariums. The Netherlands and Australia contain some great zoos as well, and they have many exhibits on ZooLex. Could ZooLex have inadvertently provided us with an unofficial ranking of the best countries for zoos? One could certainly argue that case...haha.

The Master List:

U.S.A. = 20 different zoos/aquariums (40 exhibits)
Germany = 15 different zoos/aquariums (25 exhibits)
Netherlands = 7 different zoos/aquariums (9 exhibits)
Australia = 5 different zoos/aquariums (8 exhibits)
England = 3 different zoos/aquariums (6 exhibits)
Austria = 3 different zoos/aquariums (6 exhibits)
Switzerland = 2 different zoos/aquariums (7 exhibits)
New Zealand = 2 different zoos/aquariums (3 exhibits)
Scotland = 2 different zoos/aquariums (2 exhibits)
Denmark = 2 different zoos/aquariums (2 exhibits)
Hong Kong = 2 different zoos/aquariums (2 exhibits)
Italy = 1 different zoos/aquariums (1 exhibit)
Mexico = 1 different zoos/aquariums (1 exhibit)
Singapore = 1 different zoos/aquariums (1 exhibit)
Czech. Rep. = 1 different zoos/aquariums (1 exhibit)
South Africa = 1 different zoos/aquariums (1 exhibit)

It may also have something to do with the fact that Monika Fiby has personal ties in those two countries, more contacts, etc. These exhibit reports are rather time consuming to prepare.
