I hope this is useful: I've created a Google Custom Search-powered engine at LateralZoo which indexes a selective, and growing, list of reputable zoological sources, such as natural history museums, major zoos, governmental agencies, zoology departments, research institutes, zoological scientific journals and wildlife conservation organisations.

Wikipedia is excluded in order to offer an alternative to the normal mighty Google...
