A few updates from Zoo de Barranquilla's FB page:
  • five (3.2) Blue-billed Curassows hatched at the zoo across the months of May and June. This is a first-time breeding success for the zoo after several years of trying. Despite being a Colombian-wide programme among the zoos, they are only the second zoo in the country to breed this species. A significant achievement.
  • an Andean Bear died during a medical procedure. He initially arrived at the zoo in 2017.
  • a Brown Spider Monkey was born earlier in the year. The Black-headed Spider Monkeys also had a birth in 2022.

Updates from their FB page:
  • a male lion was transferred from Parque Jaime Duque near Bogota to Barranquilla. He is being introduced to their 16-year-old female.
  • two Meerkats arrived at the zoo.
  • Blue-billed Curassow continue to breed steadily with the most recent chick announced in August of this year. This chick will be moved to another facility for pairing.
  • a Brown Spider Monkey was born in July of this year.
