Two maned wolf pups born in 2017. The female arrived on B/L from Zoo San Salvador and the male ex a breeding center in Araxa. First breeding since 12 years.

BTW: Between 1984-2005 17 pups were born over the years in Bauru.

In 2015 the zoo also reported birth with their pied tamarins.

Bauru zoo is a very good institution and does a hell of a lot in terms of environmental education and conservation programes with local species such as the Giant anteater and maned wolf. It is especially notable for its studies into the impact of roads on wildlife and raising public awareness of this in towns and cities of Southern Sao Paulo state. I've seen their work in that area first hand and I'm really very impressed.

Also , off topic , a male spectacled bear cub born in Sorocaba zoo was transferred to Bauru September of last year.
