Karlsruhe Zoo Zoologischer Garten Karlsruhe

A first-breeding for Karlsruhe and a second egg still being incubated :).

I wonder if and by how far the new management had anything to do with this?! Anyway, a great development and much needed for maintaining this attractive smaller flamingo species in Europe (hope we are finally cracking the eggs ... with the recent hatchings here and there).

For sure, Dr.Reinschmidt isn't the father of the chicks:)

Seriously,I think,he has not very much do with it, because the Lesser Flamingos had eggs in the past regulary, but they were unfertilized.

OK, did not know that.

Anything down to bird husbandry or management?
What sex/age ratio do they have?

Good and bad news from Karlsruhe :
Good news On Saterday female Red-capped mangabey Kano ( born 2008 ) gave birth to her second baby :).
Bad news : On Sonday the male Snow leopard was found with a small wound and died theother night :( : ( article in German ) Karlsruhe: Nachwuchs im Affenhaus

The zoo has started building a new European lynx-enclosure. This will be 1100 squar meter which is 10-times larger as the current enclosure and it's expected to be finished by the end of 2017.
