ZooParc de Beauval Zooparc de Beauval news 2021

Recent births in Beauval : 3 humboldt penguins, 2 lesser kudus, 1.2 capybaras, a malagasy spider tortoise and a tonkin bug-eyed frog.

Other news :
- the south historical zoo entrance is closed until next February 4th due to works on animals exhibit. So visitors must come by northen entrance near the tropical dome. I suppose the works are refurbishment of the old parrot aviaries.
- the conservation center for the Mountain Marmosets Conservation Program (MMCP) welcome the birth of two buffy-tufted-ear marmosets. The center is fully funded by Beauval Nature, the zoo conservation association.

Lot of news for the Zoo coming from the director's interview :
- confirmation of the refurbishment of the old aviaries in the entrance area. From what I understand nothing spectacular, in the same side as the ones done this year (so not really good).
- twenty other construction sites are taking place at the moment. I suppose small improvements like last winter.
- the works for the fifth hotel in the city center will start soon and major development projects will take shape in 2022/2023/2024 (so for 2023/2024/2025).
- the departure of Yuan Meng, the first baby panda, was delayed due to pandemic. No date has been indicated for the moment.
- the renewal of the pandas' loan has not been signed for the moment due to political agenda and the pandemic but the director hopes to do it soon for ten years more.
- the zoo hopes to reach its record number of visitors (done in 2019) of 1.600.000 with the christmas holidays despite five months of closure !

Other news : Pebbles, the ten years old male two-toed sloth left the zoo last november 10th for Besançon where he is housed temporarily before he join its final destination Mulhouse. To replace him the zoo got Raoul, a ten years old male coming from Montpellier. Raoul is due to breed with Laya, the remaining female.

L'invité de France Bleu Orléans : Rodolphe Delord, directeur du Zooparc de Beauval

Histoire de paresseux : bye bye Pebbles et bienvenue à Raoul ! - Beauval Actus

According to a fan's Facebook page the zoo holds now blue-crowned laughingthrush (new species). At least one animal is on show in the bird house.
