ZooParc de Beauval Zooparc de Beauval news 2025

His sibling MUSHU has been transferred to Plzen Zoo in Czechia.
Zoo a BZ Plzeň on Instagram: "NOVÝ SAMEC PANDY ČERVENÉ V pondělí (16.6.) přijel nový chovný samec pandy červené z francouzského ZooParc de Beauval. #zooplzen #zoopilsen #zoo #plzen #pilsen #visitzoo #redpanda #panda #newarrival #visitplzen #visitpilsen #red"

I was in Beauval today, and I've many things to notice.

First there has been a violent storm that hit the zoo last Wednesday, leading to the fall of many trees and to a short closure of the zoo (that lasted only one day).
The fallen trees or branches have been left or given to some animals (hoofstock, monkeys) as an enrichment ; instead other ones (the Persian Leopards and perhaps other cats) were maintained in the night quarters, probably for safety reasons.
Some minor paths remained closed, especially in the old Big Cat and Bird areas.

For the first time I went to "Les Rocs de Dodoma", the habitat is interesting for the animals with multiple hides, but it is practically impossible to take a picture of all the zone, as there isn't any point that offer a general view. Four species are noticed on the signage : Kirk's Dik-diks, Meerkats, Cape Porcupines and Bat-eared Foxes. I've managed to see all the species minus the Foxes.

The Elephant house has been entirely revamped in the "African style", the signage has been changed. The Savannah Monitor has been replaced by a White-throated Monitor (curiously the signage was only in French, even the common name of the species doesn't appear in English nor in another language).

I've seen a newborn Barbary Monkey, as usual in the early summer.

The Himalayan Vultures are back on show in the Bird of prey quarters, replacing for a new time the Long-crested Eagles :(

Finally there's signage indicating the arrival of White-belted Ruffed Lemurs Varecia variegata subcincta in the Lemur island near the Southern entrance, along with the Ring-tailed Lemurs and the "commun" Black and White Ruffed Lemurs.

Hi folks

I spent my family vacation in the Loire/Cher region and will visit Zooparc de Beauval this friday (July the 4th), mostly to see the Golden Monkey (Yes, I know, probably not the best idea regarding the weather forecast with 30 degrees. However, with a travel distance of more then 800 km, I can't be picky).

I will be on my own that day but it would be great(!!!) if some zoochatters from France (or other countries) would join me. So my question is:

Est-ce qu'il y a des personnes qui peuvent (et ont envie de) m'accompagnier et guider?

I will be at the main entrance right at 9:00 am, wearing a blue baseball cap (NY Yankees), khaki shirt, short trousers/pants, sandals and a black photographer backpack (by the way: I'm a man, short brown hair, about 1.80 m tall).

I know, it's very spontaneous. But maybe we can make it. Just write here (or send a message to my personal zoochat account).

Sorry, I wouldn't be in Beauval this day.
I hope you a good visit of the zoo.

PS. I hadn't any problems to see the Golden Monkeys last weekend, in spite of the hot weather.

So sad. Your support and knowledge would have made this visit even more exciting. However: Thank you very much for your reply. Maybe at another date or we can see us in Zurich. At least, it was a try - and sometimes you win and sometimes you loose.
