Since June 2023, a new private animal collection with regular opening hours exists in town Česká Skalice (20 km east of Dvur Kralove).

It doesnt have a zoo licence, but it collects an entry fee. Can´t find any info on total area but probably pretty small. Based on few pics online it is more of wooden planks and chickenwire quality.

Incomplete list of species kept (taken from pics and remarks):
- Patagonian mara (several)
- Sri Lankan junglefowl (at least 1,2)
- white-crested laughingthrush
- suricatas (male group)
- great curassow (1,1)
- southern ground hornbill (1.1)
- demoiselle crane (1,1)
- alpacas, ponies and other domestics
- turkey vulture (1,1,1)
- Swinhoe's striped squirrels
- Verreaux's eagle-owl
- prairie dogs
- scarlet ibis flock
- great argus
- blue-winged kookaburra
- laughing kookaburra
- spectacled owl (1,1)
- crested pigeon
- masked lapwing
- some sort of pygmy owl??
and maybe Greater flamingos

Sounds like a nice collection

This zoopark survived its first season. Local radio station did an interview with the owner.

It´s open only during warmer months - it closed in early November 2023 and will open again in circa May 2024 - with new species among its collection.

Visitor fee is on voluntary base - there is a box placed at the entrance with a plea to contribute to running costs (at least it is handled in this way on workdays outside main season). According to the owner, some people leave like 2 kc (10 cents) but they also had a gentleman that put in 10.000 kc (400 euro). Collected money doesnt cover whole cost of the zoopark so the owner must subside it himself. Total running cost was 100k euro in the first year.

I dont know even approximate attendace figure but the owner mentioned it was higher than his expectation.

Species mentioned in interview or pictured on the HP/FB that were missing in my list above:
- toco toucan (1.1)
- (brown?) capuchin monkeys (1.1)
- golden-handed tamarins (1.1)
- katta lemurs
- green aracari (1.1)
- black-necked aracari (1.1)
- Guyana toucanet (1.1)
- aracari that I dont know link
- blue-and-yellow macaw
- green-winged macaw
- violet touraco
- spurred tortoise (0.0.3)
- galahs
- Ural owls
- ferruginous pygmy-owl (2 chicks hatched in 2023)
- northern Luzon cloud rat
- bearded barbet
- Livingstone's turaco
- blue-throated piping-guan (2 chicks hatched in 2023)
- yellow-knobbed curassow
- bare-faced curassow
- northern helmeted curassow
- vulturine guineafowl
- band-bellied owl
- northern white-faced owl
- Eurasian eagle-owl
- Indian scops-owl
- crimson-rumped toucanet
- boad-billed heron

The list probably still sligthly incomplete. Unfortunately they have no flamingos for sure.

They repurposed one paddock (former pony?) for a new species that should arrive - capybara.

Hello, allow us to introduce our new zoo in Česká Skalica.
Our zoo was opened to the public in the summer of 2023. By the end of 2023, we are now keeping 51 species of animals in our zoo, and we would very much like to increase the number of species kept, it all depends on whether we can build adequate and suitable quarters for the new species, so that felt comfortable with us. We will also be happy for your help in the form of sponsorship, adoption, or contribution to feeding or running our zoo. From 1.5.2024 we are open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can find the list of farmed animals here!
