There is also Nibbler, but can we count him?!?
Oh, an episode of Futurama
Mighty Boosh series 1 set in a zoo is being rerun this/next week starting last night on BBC3 - don't miss it, it's mad!
tonight there was the zoo keeper episode of Futurama followed by the episode of friends were Ross goes to the zoo to find his monkey!
Here in the UK, zoo 'fly on the wall' type documentary series have been popular in the last few years- easy to film, nice animal subjects, lots of humour and the odd sad event. I can think of the following zoos which have been the subject of these type of programmes on different T.V. channels.
Obviously the zoos benefit too from the additional publicity and increased visitor numbers such exposure generates;
London/Whipsnade- various over the years.-'the Zoo', 'supervets' etc
Bristol- ' the zoo'.
Twycross- title?
Chester.'zoo days'
Paignton 'zookeepers'
Longleat-'animal park'
Howletts/PL -'roar'(childrens)
Dartmoor WP -'Ben's Zoo'
Others? e.g.Dublin or Belfast
That only leaves Marwell, Dudley, Colchester, Edinburgh and Jersey, together with the other Safari Parks as the major collections which I'm not aware have been featured yet- maybe some of them already have?
There's also Zoo Vet set in Flamingo Land.
Is that another quite recent series? I forgot MonkeyWorld and their 'MonkeyBusiness' series though its not a mainstream zoo.
