Zoos of the United Arab Emirates

Sorry if I’m hijacking this old thread, maybe I should have started a new one.

I’ll be in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for a little over a week. What are the best zoos or aquariums i absolutely must visit?

Bonus points if there are are exotic species I as a North American zoo nerd would not otherwise be able to see.

Definitely SeaWorld Abu Dhabi! They have dugongs and humpback dolphins which I think you can't find in any zoo in US! I would also say Al Ain Zoo is another interesting park and you can drive there from Abu Dhabi. Other than that... Green Planet Dubai has an interesting concept (big indoor jungle) but price is a bit high for what it has to offer. The other main zoos you can visit are Emirates Park Zoo and Dubai Safari Park which have the typical ABC species and nothing particularly interesting to see but if you have extra time you can always give them a chance.

I would recommend an extension travel to Sharjah for their 2 zoological parks.

BTW: the National Asian Research Centre is off exhibit Govt. facility. No chance!
