Indeed - and the suggestion that merely donating money to a zoo would be too expensive, but buying the zoo outright would not be too expensive, is genuinely confusing.

I assume the difference is with owning one, they'd be bringing in money from visitors. The problem being, the zoos are struggling in the first place because they aren't bringing in enough money to even care for the animals.

That is uncalled for. Distressed businesses are bought and sold every day, and by doing so can help the owners get out of an impossible situation with perhaps some dignity and a little cash.

The purchasers would have to believe they can turn that around with the injection of capital, renewed energy, and a new vision.

Mmm hmm. I just don’t really believe anybody serious is doing so by ZooChat private messages. I also don’t see this thread - which I still expect to carry a lot of genuinely painful news in it before this is over - as an opportunity to go looking for bargains. There’s a time and place.

I understand. Apologies to anyone if that was insensitive. I was trying to offer a small possibility of helping owners who are at risk of financial ruin and helping me fulfill a dream of zoo ownership and help the animals if I could. I can only imagine how painful losing one’s business would be. Truly devastating. I have been seriously looking for a year, but I see now this was not the place to post. Apologies.

Yes. We would hope to make a down payment, small business loan, and then run a business. I won’t reply again. I don’t appreciate the hostility. I meant well.

Perhaps if your posts didn't give people a contradictory view of your situation, then you wouldn't have got hostile posts to your post. I wish you well in your endeavor but I will not be providing you any help, as I don't know you and I don't like what I am seeing in your post's.

Serpentarium in Blankenberge, Belgium (a town on the Belgian coast, the zoo was located right on the tourist seawall promenade), a small zoo that had been part of the Royal Zoological Society of Antwerp (which also runs Zoo Antwerpen and Zoo Planckendael) for some years, will not be reopening and its doors will remain closed forever, Covid being one of the reasons for the closure.
