It looks Oakland Zoo will be replacing the chair lift with some kind of gondola system when they build the new California exhibits.

I miss the cable cars that used to be at Woburn Safari Park in the 1970s, whisking visitors over plantations full of wild deer and pheasants, and depositing them at Drakelow Lake with its residents sealions, hippos and chimpanzees (on an island). I wouldn't restore the chimp island, but would love to experience that cable car ride again.
