Zoos with the rarest / most endangered iguanas

I am afraid green iguanas, like slider turtles, are often tossed in poor exhibits in Europe. Probably because there are lots of rescue animals.

Old Emmen zoo had an interesting exhibit of rhinoceros iguanas in their Biochron building, next to dinosaur models.

Yes, I know what you mean @Jurek7 , it could be just a convenient arrangement for many zoos rather than an intentional planned set-up.

Thanks for sharing ! I'll check it out and see if I can find some shots.

Never been to Colchester but having seen photos in the gallery I'm not very keen on the lavish use of fake rocks, fake temples and tacky aesthetics.

That said, I think this enclosure for rhinoceros iguana looks brilliant and really does kind of resemble the xeric scrubland and limestone topography of the species in its natural habitat in Hispaniola:

I was interested of there were any so I checked the gallery, but no photos of the rhinoceros iguanas in the Biochron. I checked my personal photo collection too, but also negative.

The Biochron of the earliest 1990's was a wonderfull place with many models of dinosaurs and company (I remember Protoceratops with hatching young, Archaeopteryx, pterosaurs, taxidermed hawks on a dinosaur corpse and weasel-like mammals around a sleeping giant lizard-like reptile), aquaria with a group of lemon sharks a star attraction, a reconstructed Carboniferous forest, a butterfly garden and a section with nocturnal animals.

Thats a shame but thank you for looking for photos.

I don't normally like dinosaur sculptures in zoos but it sounds quite interesting from an educational perspective to display these kinds of models alongside reptiles like iguanas.

Exuma Island Iguanas and Bahamian Iguana are the same species. The Grand Cayman Blue Iguanas are no longer at the aquarium, that exhibit is now used for the Bahamians.

Yes, I know, I just wrote the label as that was how the photograph in the gallery was titled.

That is a shame, the Grand Cayman blue iguana is significantly more endangered than the Exuma Island iguana.

I did find (and uploaded) a combined file of three photographs of the Biochron, including one with a Pteranodon and living crocodiles.

The Columbus zoo apparently have an interesting mixed iguana species exhibit with spiny tailed and blue iguanas:
