They may not fit geographically, but they're a nice species and one I hoped would go into the space

Happy to have them back at London, as they are a charismatic and charming active species which will perhaps be more of a draw to regular visitors than bearded pigs.

Wish they had kept the zoogeographic theming though. Babirusa or my predicted warty pigs (or my fantasy rhino :) )would have been more interesting.

I loved the Bearded pigs sad to see they are longer at the collection but must admit I love the idea of the Hogs replacing them to be honest they may be more interesting for the younger visitor but great for good photography though

Those are just two Patagonian Conures who are separate from the larger group (10 or so) . The larger group are still n the top corner of Animal Adventure by the main Coati area.

That larger group have now recently vacated the top corner think they are moving collection.

Red River Hogs (yes they are common in zoos) are always entertaining to watch and one of my favourite animals to see at any zoo!

The last one was PTS. They're also a phase-out species so could not be replaced with new individuals

I just saw it... What a pity...
I missed them when I visited the London zoo and now I can only think of Berlin, with a lone male...
I've heard that they aren't rare in North America but I don't know...

Great day at a chilly zoo with @FunkyGibbon and @Giant Panda no really major changes, but a lot of work going on in the old Bearded Pig enclosure getting it ready for the Red River Hogs. Concrete being laid down in the right hand side and a digger in the left hand side.

Okapi were sharing a stall in their house. Good view of one of the Red Forest Duiker outside.

Not much work evident in the Snowden Aviary.

Male Asiatic Lion Bhanu very vocal again and hanging around with the females. Hoping this means he's finally settling in with the girls after they all pretty much avoided each other since he arrived in 2014.

Although I don't really keep track of the Reptile House, a lot more of the exhibits seem to have been turned over to interpretation rather than animals. New interpretation seems to have been added to the walls next to some of the enclosures too.

In the Clore rainforest, keepers were target training the free-roaming tamarins to enter the old Iguana exhibit. A new wooden platform has also been constructed in front of this exhibit.

Angel Fish have replaced Piranhas at the back of the Clore

Both Northern helmeted curassows will be leaving the Rainforest exhibit for another collection, after which there will be no bird kept in the rainforest.

The remaining Black hornbill, African pygmy goose and Pied avocet have died or been euthanased for health reasons, ending those 3 species in the collection.

The Red River Hogs are due to arrive in the coming week.

Another Cracid species in there would be nice
