Is the Monkey Valley gonna be the only enclosure on that side of the water or are there other enclosures/aviaries coming along with it?ZSL have now published their Annual Report.

I was lucky enough to be at London Zoo on the 26th September, so I saw this infant but I wasn't able to ask the keeper when it was born because we were taking photo from opposite sides of the exhibit. I have posted some photos now some details have been announced.A White-naped Mangabey was born on September 26: London Zoo shares heart-melting snaps of new baby animal
The Annual Report has to be formally agreed at the ZSL AGM which is on 10 NovemberZSL have now published their Annual Report.

Visited today and a few notes:
- Giants of the Galapagos looks fantastic - comprises a very large indoor area (150+ sqm) for I think 3 tortoises, who appeared to be loving it! Unfortunately the temperature and humidity regulation does tend to fog up any camera lenses/glasses so do be wary of that! Below are a few pics:
- The potto pair were very active indeed, which was a pleasure to watch, as were the bushbabies. Only saw what appeared to be a house mouse in the jumping rat exhibit. In the tropical hall, the female tamandua was oddly hiding behind some rocks on the visitor pathway just underneath the normal haunt of the sloths
- The reptile house was closed but I was still able to see the caecilians just on the side of the aquarium as well as the Komodo dragons. No works appear to be going on within the reptile house itself but there was renovation just behind the house where the tortoises used to be.
- Asim and Geisha are looking comfortable together now, and a keeper noted that they had been tight for a couple of weeks now. The gibbons have moved to an exhibit in gorilla kingdom as their exhibit in Tiger Territory is being renovated.
- Lions were very active towards the end of the day and as the crowds thinned it was nice to watch Bhanu virtually alone for the best part of an hour. Half of the elevated walkway over Land of the Lions is closed unfortunately, but the rest remains open.
- Finally in the Blackburn Pavilion all birds were present and active (and loud
), and I spent a good twenty to thirty minutes watching the trogon pair and sunbirds.
Overally a very nice visit.
Great photos @amur leopard! Bhanu is an impressive looking male.
Are the gorillas still living as a cohesive troop without the silverback?
Unless I've missed something, there is no silverback since Kumbuka died several years ago.
Very good news!Three Big-headed Turtles (Platysternon megacephalum) have hatched at London Zoo: Heroes in a half shell
Very good news!
I didn't know that this rare and endangered species was able to breed in captivity.
Does anyone know if and when a new Silverback will arrive to lead the Family of Western Lowland Gorillas? To welcome a Silverback to Father babies with Effie,Majukuu and Alika is vital. I presume young Blackback Gernot will move on soon. He is now 6 years old. If Gernot does leave I think he should form a Bachelor Group with Twycross born Lope & Shufa, Belfast born Backo and possibly Evindi from Longleat, if he is persisting to cause problems.
as you are both the Ape Experts @Pertinax and @Gigit do you have any information on this
I think it is safe to say no silver back will arrive until Gernot has moved on for the next year or so! As for the Harry Potter enclosure in the reptile house, you are running out of time!!Does anyone know if and when a new Silverback will arrive to lead the Family of Western Lowland Gorillas? Additionally has Arya the Paignton born Asiatic Lioness been introduced to Bhanu? I hope the pair are now living together full time.
Finally were the Meerkats that vanished during the Animal Adventure fire of 2018 ever located? I know they were presumed dead but the last I heard this wasn't certain.
I have not been to London Zoo since about 2002. I was 2 years old. I am thinking about holidaying in London next year. Is a trip to the Zoo worthwhile. I really want to see the Snake enclosure where Harry Potter was filmed. Additionally I would like to know if there is a area where you can pet and interact with Domesticated Animals?

Bhanu and Arya are sharing the same area and all the signs are that they are enjoying one another’s companyDoes anyone know if and when a new Silverback will arrive to lead the Family of Western Lowland Gorillas? I don't think an exact date for closure of the reptile house has been announced, but I think it was 2022.How much time have I got to see the Harry Potter enclosure? I won’t be able to get up to London until next year.
@pipaluk what is happening to the Reptile House?I don't think an exact date for closure of the reptile house has been announced, but I think it was 2022.
