They're still pretty young aren't and first came ahead of expectations? If they'd only started coming out in the last couple of weeks you'd maybe expect them to be hidden a lot still.
I was at zoo on Friday, the 3 cubs were out and about at 10am, Mum was with them. Mum then went off whilst cubs hid in the undergrowth. Cubs were out playing in the afternoon. So all looks wellAnyone else worried that I’m outside the tiger territory and again both parents no cubs?! Where could they be without mum? Hope it’s not bad news like the previous cub …

The concept of Monkey Valley is great, but it felt extremely anticlimactic; inevitably as you mention, but nonetheless unfortunate. However for the colobus, it is impossible to deny that the enclosure is still brilliant. What other colobus enclosures around the globe are comparable in size and quality? Was also at the zoo today, albeit in the afternoon. Didn't get lucky with the cubs but great to hear it confirmed that nothing is wrong. The inoculations should really be around this time if I remember correctly so that might have been why they were off show for a while.
On a side note, went inside the Snowdon for the first time today. Colobus were great, put on a show, a couple of leaps, lots of activity. The issue from my perspective (which can't be helped I guess) is how prescriptive it is. You get max five minutes in there in a group of twenty with two keepers and if there happens to be a colobus on the path you can't go in within ten metres of it. Can't help thinking that such an exhibit in France for example would be much less cautious in its approach, but I suppose those are the conditions imposed upon them due to recent law changes.

That's good to hear. Would there be any word if they intend to let the troop size increase in size since they are in such a massive exhibit? They seem to be doing absolutely fine surprisingly, with the colobus feeding on the leaves given to them as food rather than live leaves apparently…
Hopefully it stays that way.

A question regarding the cubs: has anybody seen them in the main enclosure opposite the Cassons? From personal experience and what I have heard others state, they are more commonly seen in the enclosure with the pond.

Can someone tell me, is it the case that on opening until around 10.30am, the twilight world is actually in white light and the lights only go off around 10.30am? I've read posts in the past both here and elsewhere that suggest this, but wondered if anyone can confirm if this is true, or not. Thanks

Just been perusing Zootierliste and noticed water rats are no longer listed for London. Have they actually gone? I've had a skim through the thread and notice that no-one seems to be mentioning them so I'm fearing the worst...
Thanks for the reply, not sure how I missed their departure! They have indeed been gone for a good while now - at least a year, if not more. Their exhibit remains vacant for their time being.
