The Asian lions were being held off-show in quarantine for a while up behind the cheetah enclosures but they may have now left.

Afaik they have both(?) died from TB they brought with them from India.

They also held the 3 females from London whilst the new lion exhibit was being built and the ZTL entry appears to be continuous since then.

The zoo has received six Lake Titicaca Water Frogs, Telmatobius culeus, from Chester (who's obtained a larger number from Denver Zoo in the US).

This really is excellent news, a visit is long overdue for me as it is, 7 months is my longest gap in a dozen years or more. Glad they have finally cracked it with the Wolverine!

Like a woeburn they can go deep below and even duck under the water , whipsnade for a larger herd they can’t even do that in their pond

I heard they may build one with the new house but nothing came of it probably ran out of money

I feel for the keepers. Senior elephant staff were involved in the planning process, and I believe promises were made during construction that never materialised (a larger pool certainly being one of them).

In all my years of visiting, I think I’ve only ever seen the pool used once!

I’ve only ever seen Elizabeth use the pool

I often drive past the zoo and past Bison Hill, and I always keep an eye out for the Bison on my way past. The other day I noticed a zoo 4x4 in the paddock and no sign by the house as there normally is. The has been very little sign of life when j last drove past so I was wondering if anyone had any information?

I think the Bison may have been old..... Very sad if ZSL have now gone out if the species.
