ZSL Whipsnade Zoo ZSL Whipsnade Zoo 2020

I know Naya is going to move on so is off show currently, so not to have to deal with her three sons and their dad. As he will also be moving soon too, as whipsnade just wants to keep the three boys for now and put breeding on hold, which I think is such a shame, to a endangered species

The Amur Tigers in Europe thread, mentions that Botzman has gone or will shortly be going to Highland Wildlife Park

Thank you Rosie183, much appreciated. Male big cats, apparently, tend to be harder to place. A reply to a question I asked on 'Amur Tigers in Europe' indicates that Botzman is due to move to Highland Wildlife Park this year. The father of the cubs at Bussolengo is his littermate, Pootsman.

So will the cubs be ok together as male adults as aren’t tigers solitary. Wonder where the female is off too? As currently she is off show

The white rhino house was taped off and a rhino transport lorry has just arrived. I over heard from keepers that it is a two year old female. Unfortunately I do not know where it was from.

It might be Jabari from Knowsley, she is 2.5 years old and the only 2-year-old white rhino girl in Great Britain.

Yes, it's Fahari, who was moved to Whipsnade. Actually, a 2nd female was moved there too, Jaseera, born 2011, from Knowsley.

It's Rhinos in Europe - enjoy :) Some lists might be a bit messy, especially from GB and France ... let me know, if a rhino is missing, pls.

@Jola many thanks for sharing the link to your website. @Jola you should be incredibly proud of your marvellous website,I wish I was skilled enough to create a website like yours. Your Rhino website reminded me of the Gorillas Land website https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...lasland.com/&usg=AOvVaw1E_1ZawyRLDkLnWP1CUfr8. If you have not seen the website I would highly recommend that you check it out! Gorillas Land although slightly out of date is one of my favourite websites of all time.

*I apologise if I appear rude but Sam the White Rhino at Dublin Zoo passed away whereas your website indicates that he is still alive and residing at Dublin Zoo*.

Thank you. Actually, my rhino website was the project (sample layout) for my 1st book on WordPress published in 2009. Since then, starting with data only on the Indian rhino couple at Zoo Vienna, the website has grown year by year. Sometimes not everything is up to date but I'm trying not to lag behind too much. :-)

Don't worry, I'm happy to get current details on transfers, births and deaths of rhinos. When did Sam die?

Odd considering the breeding pair hadn’t been together that long. Makes you wonder if Whipsnade would’ve kept mother and father had the cubs been predominantly female. Is there an excess of Amur males in collections or is this particular bloodline over-represented?

Only the Studbook Holder will know. However, as both Botzman's parents were wild born I should think he probably ranks quite high on the breeding list, even with his littermate's recent successes. I think HWP will be hoping he'll breed with Dominika as she has only had 1 litter so far.

Naya only arrived at Whipsnade 2 years ago, but I suspect she is probably a high-ranking breeding female and may end up at Banham - I think part of the deal for sending Kuzma out on loan was they would get a new breeding female when he returned.

And these moves would be 'in country' so not too difficult to organise.

For those of us with children, “Maddie at the Zoo” began on CBeebies on Monday. Presented by Maddie Moate and filmed entirely at Whipsnade, it’s quite refreshing to see the zoo filmed in different perspectives (drones, GoPro etc).

Those familiar with her presenting style will agree that Maddie is, putting it bluntly, enthusiastic. However, I came away thinking that, should The Really Wild Show ever return, she’d make an excellent co-presenter.
