The two female lions arrived yesterday, we were lucky and saw both of them today. They were only just venturing outside and were staying very close to the door.
We also saw the new porcupine sleeping indoors, it looks a lot smaller than the existing female porcupine who was also asleep. I had been told a few weeks ago that the original two porcupines had been split up as it wasn't known they were brother and sister before they arrived and once realised the male was moved off show.

Oh awesome news they have both arrived safely! Looking forward to seeing them.

Which inside area did you see the porcupine? They have alluded me ever since they arrived!

So has Khari returned to Blackpool?

Apparently nacho the aardvark has left whipsnade and gone to Durrell wildlife park. Any ideas as to why this is?

Best guess would be Whipsnade can get by with 2, and Durrell wanted another. I don't think it's anything to do with genetic diversity within the population but is probably why I saw the vets giving her a cuddle. Sorry, I mean checkover.

It's a shame though because they have some lovely enrichment in the shape of the original pair's names.

As part of volunteer events for the Coronation, the zoo’s White Lion is getting a clean up…again!

Having only been refurbished as recently as 2018, I do wonder the costs involved in maintaining the Lion. Numerous schemes haven’t really worked in recent years since ZSL, understandably, resorted to more environmentally ethical methods.

With the Saki’s moving to London, I wonder (just speculating) if that outside area behind the cloisters will all be part of the reptile house?

Yes will be interesting to see what they do with that space it’s always been a bit ‘to one side’.

Don’t expect much! It became designated off-show when the Discovery Centre shut down and became keeper’s quarters. Plus, it’s falling apart. I’m amazed the Saki family lasted that long, they deserved better accommodation. The old squirrel monkey island could’ve worked.
