The zoo is building a new playground area at the bottom of the image, but still in the yellow part, so it would reduce the surface. The Dahomey cattles will leave the zoo ?
I don't know more than what the zoo write in their press release. Just wanted to illustrate that it isn't too hard to see, how the zoo might find 2.5 hectares space for this project.
The zoo announce delay in the 'Pantanal' aviary from planned opening in 2025 to 2026/27 because of interruption of the project due to legal appeal from local residents: Pantanal Voliere durch Rekurs gebremst | Zoo Zürich
Zurich Zoo have redocorated the Australia house as eucalypt forest. The perentie, shingleback, and Pilbara roch monitors have left the exhibit and, following the new master plan, will be replaced with endangered species: Cyclura cychlura figginsiand Savu python.
Wonderful! I would love to see some cohabiting species, for example echidnas. Echidnas apparently need much space for males following females during courtship, but rarely get it in zoos.
