Recently 3-year old female Nepalese red panda (Ailurus fulgens) Tiang Tang arrived at the zoo.

A week ago a Spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta) was born.

Sadly the newborn spotted hyena was recently euthanised, it was weak and had an unexplained problem with its hind legs.

Good news from Zürich female Asian elephant Farha is pregnant and expected to give birth at the start of 2023!

At start of this month the first (male) Northern koala (Phascolarctos cinereus cinereus) that was born in Zoo Zürich was send to Zoo de Beauval in return they send a female to Zürich.

Another new rare species was recently put on display in the Australienhaus, namely 3 Exuma Island iguanas (Cyclura cychlura figginsi). I persume they came from Zoo Vienna, which according to ZTL is the only other holder in Europe. I am not sure whether Zoo Vienna still keeps this species or if these were their last individuals.

Another new rare species was recently put on display in the Australienhaus, namely 3 Exuma Island iguanas (Cyclura cychlura figginsi). I persume they came from Zoo Vienna, which according to ZTL is the only other holder in Europe. I am not sure whether Zoo Vienna still keeps this species or if these were their last individuals.

Never heard of this taxa before, Critically Endangered too! Interesting to hear about.

Does anybody knows if they are in the old perentie exhibit? It seems to have been refurbished for the iguanas.

@TheoV: Yes they are. And yes, it has been refurbished for the iguanas. Also the former 2 terrariums for Australien reptiles has been transformed into one tank for 2 Savu-Island-Pythons.

Today Zoo Zürich mentioned that they actually have 5 Exuma island iguanas.
