they only get killed if they can find a place for them but i dont see the issue feeding them to other animals, nature shouldnt be sanatized

I remember theres was a hue huge shitstorm ina danish zoo who killed a giraffe adn fed it to the lions

There is huge cultural differences in Europe on this topic and southern countries are a lot less comfortable with these practices or at least being so transparent with it. And what is acceptable with Guinea pig is less for deers or meerkats and will be even less for a giraffe. One day, we might have similar challenges issue with gorilla too, which despite my rationalism, I still struggle to accept. But that's a discussion for a more specific thread I guess.
 
 
The zoo Zurich posted on their newest progress of Panterra. Most of the plants are planted, the overpass is finished and the new visitor viewing and the insect house nearly too. Now they have to wait until the plants are grown. Panterra will open in the beginning of next year.

Die neugestalteten Anlagen für die Grosskatzen erhalten den letzten Schliff, ein weiterer Aufenthaltsbereich für unsere Gäste entsteht und das neue Insektenhaus nimmt langsam aber sicher Form an. Dennoch ist noch etwas Geduld gefragt, denn die frische Bepflanzung benötigt genügend Anwachszeit, um später den Tieren standzuhalten.
