Did the Marrakech - Beni Mellal road once again, along with some night birding and finding some pretty cool species in Northern morocco as well (even though it was a brief visit).

In 2 days or so , I'm heading to Ifrane which means I have chances to spot Barbary macaque. Fingers crossed! ;)

I also saw a female white-headed duck on the same day as the cuckoo, which would thus have been #122. However, it's still uncertain whether that individual is truly wild or not, so I'm not going to count it until I have confirmation it is a wild animal and not an escapee.

There could possibly be some more additions by identification, but I think that will probably be all the changes and corrections.

That means a total of 280 species seen in Thailand, of which 231 were lifers. I plan to post a breakdown of numbers of species, lifers, and year birds seen at each location in my trip thread probably this weekend.

It's also worth noting that my lifelist currently stands at 995. I wonder what lifer #1000 will be. I hope it's not a boring totally nondescript warbler or something :p. Interestingly, my lifelist would be at 999 if I included heard only species which I don't, but I keep track of them anyway.

Spent today pottering around a series of South Yorkshire ex-collieries, now nature reserves and country parks. The, seemingly now-resident, scaup was the excuse, but the highlight ended up being that for the first I managed to time being out and about with the local passage of Black Terns. I'd thought I was doomed to miss them for ever!

Additions are from Thrybergh, Silverwood (where my grandad worked at the colliery back in the day) and Orgreave.

I was just totalling up the year so far. On post #295 (25 March) you were up to 14 mammals, so I've put you down for 16 now.

I googled colliery. I assumed it was probably a coal mine, but it was a new word for me. Then I wondered if it had anything to do with collies (the dogs), so I googled that, and apparently collie is probably derived from the same root because the original breed was black.

And also you saw black terns at the ex-colliery which is a nice wordy circle I guess, especially if I write it as being such...

I only saw 35 year birds for all of April, which is quite extraordinary. Partly it is because I'm in Vietnam where the animals have all been eaten, partly because a lot of the birds I have seen are ones I've already seen elsewhere, and partly because for a lot of the month I've either been concentrating on other things (mainly langurs) or have been in places with few birds. On the plus side, 13 of those 35 have been lifers so that's alright.
 
The year list totals so far. I think Ituri's reptile (or herptile) list and Pleistohorse's bird list are both one out though.

Sadly for your word game, I found out last night that Thrybergh Country Park is on an area that was built as a water reservoir, rather than as part of the Thrybergh (Kilnhurst) colliery as I believed. The Orgreave and Silverwood sites are the old colliery sites proper, though.
