I loved it and I think you should give it a go. You can always walk out if you can't handle. Remember, as I always say: To try and fail is yet to learn, to fail to try is to suffer the inestimable cost of what might have been.
Do you actually always say that? I can't imagine getting that out in one go without garbling it. And then you'd just look like a fool instead of whatever was intended.

Anyway, I watched Deadpool the other week. It took me a while but I got there in the end. And you and @Batto will be pleased to learn that I thought it was brilliant. The presence of Ryan Reynolds was somehow a bonus for the movie and not a destructive force of repulsiveness. I may even be tempted to wish for a sequel. Gina Carano, of course, was the best part (parts) in the movie.

The sequel comes out in May :p

I loved Deadpool and I think I loved the marketing campaigns for both movies just as much, if not more.

Speaking of Deadpool, the new trailer is out and has some actual footage of Cable in it. Still completely odd but gives a better overview of the movie! ;)

To be honest I'm looking forward to Avengers:Infinity War just as much as Deadpool 2. The Black Panther movie also looks pretty good and I'd be lying if I said that Ant-Man & The Wasp wasn't eagerly anticipated either!

In case you hadn't guessed I'm a bit of a Marvel fan boy, if I get round to it I will try and do a review of Thor Ragnorak in the next day or two.

And if anyone is interested in (well done) spoofs I recommend having a look at How It Should Have Ended on YouTube. Very funny and they cover a lot of the big action blockbusters. :)

Terry Crews is also in Deadpool 2 if anyone else is a Terry Crews fan :p

I love Marvel movies as well, even if they have their faults. The best news is there's only a two-ish weeks difference between Infinity War and Deadpool 2!

HISHE is great, as is Honest Trailers, CinemaSins, and CinemaWins.

@ThylacineAlive Another Marvel fan boy! :D

What did you think of Ragnarok? I thought it was absolutely brilliant, possibly the best Thor movie to date. Cate Blanchett played Hela perfectly, the perfect bad guy (well woman), definitely an inspired bit of casting!

I've watched the Infinity War trailer about ten times, I don't think I've ever been this excited about a film ever! Even my 4 year old daughter wants to watch it, she just wants to see more of Thor and The Guardians Of The Galaxy on screen together, she also loves the Marvel films, even the bits of Deadpool she was allowed to watch! :p

I'm hoping that now Disney own Fox they can reboot the X-Men franchise and make some better movies, out of all the Fox films I think there's five out of the nine that missed the mark. I don't count the Deadpool films as part of that franchise even though they technically are.

What do you make of the DC films? I'm not a fan but I'm still to watch Wonder Woman, haven't got round to seeing that yet, hopefully it's better than the other films, even Suicide Squad was disappointing.

I loved Ragnarok, though I definitely need to see it again since my friends and I arrived at the theater too late and had to sit front row... I feel Hela could've been in it a bit more and Odin's death could have been done a lot better but it's still a great (and funny) film.

I've given up DC :p Justice League was a complete flop when one really thinks about it, and they totally missed the mark on a Ben Affleck Batman. Wonder Woman is enjoyable but the ending is a bit odd. Suicide Squad was laughable with how bad it was :p Watching that movie was actually the last thing I did in the UK before heading to the airport.

I didn't really give it that much of a chance, Ben Affleck as Batman (did no-one at the studio watch Daredevil? :p) and Henry Cavill as Superman are just awful choices for the roles. To be honest I never really enjoyed the DC comics either.

What a lousy way to finish your time in the UK! ;)

@Chlidonias Thanks for reviving this thread! :)

Nah, can't agree there. Michael Keaton is by far my favourite Batman, followed by Adam West(! :p) and then Christian Bale, Affleck fourth and finally bloody Clooney. Will Arnett does a brilliant voice of Batman though, I rate his vocal performance over all of them.

Batman Vs Superman was an awful, over long pile of crap in my opinion, I don't understand how my mates managed to watch the extended version without dying of boredom.

One final note before I attempt to get some sleep, I approve of the new direction they're taking Aquaman, that may well turn out to be a good (for DC ;)) movie but we'll have to wait and see.

I enjoyed BvS for the most part until the infamous Martha scene, then everything fell apart. The third act was so bad, in fact, that it undermined and ruined most of the first two acts. It's just three completely different movies smashed into one and it does not work at all. The extended cut is slightly better but still not great.

Can't get a better Batman voice actor than Kevin Conroy!

The voice of Batman on Saturday morning TV back when I was a youth! Will Arnett is better though! :p Mark Hamill does an excellent Joker in the newer animations as well.

I forgot to respond to this the other day but I'd like to clarify that Disney does not own Fox. Disney is attempting to buy several of Fox's intellectual properties (specifically their movie and television properties) but Fox will still exist as a sports and- *sigh*- news company. Additionally, this deal still needs to be approved by the federal government which could take up to 18 months, during which time Fox or Disney could pull out of the deal, the government could shut down the deal, or Comcast could swoop in and buy the Fox company as a whole. So the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool, etc. are not in the mouse's gloves just yet and that's why Marvel is moving ahead with previous set plans (Kevin Feige says he didn't hear about the deal until the news had gone public) and Fox's Marvel is moving ahead with previous set plans (they're still developing future movies atm).

I think it's worth noting that, should another company buy the Fox properties, the Marvel characters will still go to Disney as technically they're only on indefinite lease to Fox and Fox cannot sell them to anyone other than Marvel (same with Sony and Spider-Man). However if Comcast buys Fox as a whole, then technically the company still exists under new management and the characters remain where they are.

.
I don't say it as much as I used to, but I've been saying it since 1980, so I have lots of practice. (Actually, for many years I said "uninestimable" before I realised it wasn't a real word). It doesn't get garbled, but anyone who hears it gets a blank, zombie-like expression while they try to make sense of the words.

:p

Just out of Black Panther. Weird thing I've noticed (with a Zoochat flair). Why are Rhino's specifically so hard to CGI? Disney did such a good job with the Jungle Book but the One Horned Rhino were the worst looking animals in it as well. Makes me worry for the Lion King.

Sums it up perfectly, it was meeting the reviews (of well above average) until the ending -the whole final fight sequence just got progressively more over the top and silly and was a significantly jarring change in tone to what had gone before.

Personally, I think some reviewers overlooked this as it would have spoiled the story/headline of "really good female superhero film". To be fair, I suppose "really good female superhero film, apart from annoying/silly end" doesn't really work as well.

Had they not changed to WW1, the writers of Captain America: TFA probably could have sued for co-writer credits. Basically after BvS someone at DC panicked and demanded Marvel B movies.

Now that's a spoiler-free review...!

I watched a fantastic movie the other day, Mongol, about the life of Genghis Khan (when he was still just Temudgin - an alternative clumsy title for the film is Mongol: the rise to power of Genghis Khan or - worse - Mongol: the untold story of the rise to power of Genghis Khan). The movie came out in 2007 and was planned to be the first in a trilogy of his life, but unfortunately the next two movies were never made.

The movie was filmed in 2005 with China and Kazhakstan standing in for Mongolia (filming there was rejected by Mongolia for fear that the Russian production would not portray Genghis Khan appropriately). All the actors are actually Mongolian apart for the two male leads (Tadanobu Asano from Japan as Temudgin, and Honglei Sun from China as his blood-brother Jamukha).

It is a huge sweeping epic of a movie, with landscapes to match. The acting is superb, the battle scenes are fantastic. It made me wish I was living back then. Also made me want to go back to Mongolia.

The trailer is here, if you can stand the awful American trailer-explanation (maybe watch it on mute):
