Movie review rant 2018

Just saying hello folks. My first visit to the site in about three years I think! Hope everyone is ok, and I’m very pleased to see this thread still going!!

I hardly watch movies these days as TV series seem to be more engaging. Last movie was... John Wick 2?

Teen Titan Go! To The Movies

I can't review this film properly because it's too weird. It's based on a kids TV show, which in turn is based on a DC comics property which includes Robin (Batman's buddy). The plot makes no sense, the characters are just there to make fart and s**t jokes, it's funny in parts but it's definitely a kids film without any thought for the adults who will have to watch it, and finally it has far more singing than necessary so it definitely does suck!
On the plus side though there are at least five hilarious scenes, including a very unexpected cameo or two.

?/10 (Impossible to rank, only watched it because of parental duty!)

I liked it.

What did you think of Nick Cage finally fulfilling his dream of playing Superman?

Two decades after the abortive first attempt..... :p

Niclolas Cage as Superman was a brilliant touch, but now he's got one less topic to talk about in interviews! ;) He was brilliant though, probably my second favourite cameo in the whole film.
My favourite Easter Egg was probably Roar Shack, but there were probably others that I blinked and missed as there were bloody loads of them! :p

I don't know if anyone else has watched the 1967 version of Romeo and Juliet, but my teacher showed it to us today (just the party and balcony scenes), and personally, I thought it was the most cringy, horrible thing I've ever watched...

Brilliant news for superhero nerds everywhere, James Gunn has been hired by Warner Bros to write Suicide Squad 2. This means that DC will have a movie that could be as well written as a Marvel film. There's also the possibility that we'll actually get a Suicide Squad movie worthy of the name. the last one was disappointing to say the least! ;)

James Gunn is planning a 'completely fresh take' on Suicide Squad 2

Even more good news (depending on your opinion), James Gunn and Jared Leto absolutely hate each other so Leto's Joker will never appear in a Gunn attached project.

That's even better news, I hated Leto's version. ;)

Unfortunately we've got to see how the Joaquin Phoenix Joker turns out, and I'm not overly confident that he can pull it off.

It doesn't really matter, Phoenix doesn't do franchises (that's why he didn't do Doctor Strange) and his Joker movie is a stand-alone film outside of the DCEU.

I still reckon it's going to be crap, it's going to be one of those films that I will probably end up watching on TV or Netflix, it's not going to be a film I'm likely to want to go out of my way to see. But then again, I'm saying this and the film has only just gone in to production, so maybe I should wait for at least a teaser trailer before I become so judgemental... ;)

One movie that feel has been overly hated (in fact some of you may hate it) is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. (Spoiler Warning) Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the movie doesn't have it's flaws, as it certainly does have some, but I feel people are being a little to critical. For example, when Jurassic World came people complained that the whole "dinosaurs on an island thing" was getting boring, but now this movie comes out and HISHE comes out with a video stating "Without an island the story is lame." Another example of people being overly critical is how people started freaking out about how ridiculously under priced the dinosaurs at the auction were (In fact I think "Screen Rant" wrote an entire article about it). I'll admit the prices were stupidly low but so what? When you think about it, is it really that big of a deal? I don't think so. One last thing then I'll stop ranting, people were complaining that the few dinosaurs that escaped at the end into Northern California aren't that big of a problem, and guess what, they're right. So then why did Ian Malcolm make things seem so ominous? It isn't the current stock of dinosaurs that we need to worry about. It's the fact that dinosaurs, and the genetic power to create them is now spreading around the world (because if you remember all the DNA from the lab that was being packed up near the end). It's kind of like nuclear energy. If one small, tiny peaceful country had nukes we wouldn't need to worry. But when nukes become open source and everyone has access to them. Then we got to worry. One complaint that I will agree with is that the Indoraptor should of a) been given more screen time or b) cut from the script. I liked it but it didn't start killing until like the last half hour of the movie. Overall I give this movie an 8 or 9 out of 10. (P.S. If you'd like to see some really good videos on why this movie is so bad, I recommend you check out "Klayton Fioriti" on Youtube. (Klayton Fioriti). Have a nice day everyone.

I invite you to read through the last few pages of this thread.

I think this movie is a 2/10 max. I do like Klayton Fioriti, though.

@ThylacineAlive I did as you said well and it appears you and I won't be agreeing on the Jurassic Park franchise any time soon (and that's okay because everyone has there own opinions). I agree with some of you points but disagree with many others. However I did notice that you and several other Zoochatters are big MCU fans, and that is totally something I can agree with you guys on.
