Golden Bush-robin (Tarsiger chrysaeus) - last held in 1992 at Tierpark Berlin. There are no images of this taxon within the Zoochat gallery.

Now there are images of this species in the Gallery, I just uploaded 2 photos of an animal seen at a Bird-show last weekend. Not 100 % sure but I can't remember having seen this species before ( even not at dealers in the 1980-ties / 1990-ties ) so for me most prop. a lifer !

Excellent although not strictly relevant for this thread as it focuses on zoo holdings. A very nice-looking species!

I just went through this whole thread (procrastination at its finest) and it's a really interesting read, although I just scrolled really fast through the birds' lists as they don't really interest me that much (bar some specific species). Seeing some species making comeback, others new disappear, wondering which species will be the next one. I already know two (there is surely much more but I worked with these two so they are the first to come up) species that will be added to this list in the next few years and probably won't come back for a long time...

Also it would be interesting to go through that list once again and see which zoo's are most present on the list as "the last to held." Berlin and Pilsen would surely occupy some top spots, it's really telling about size of their collection. But having exact numbers would be cool...Maybe I'll do that next time when I'll try to hide from my duties

Fortunately, I have seen both species although I would quite like to see the Panay again before it is too late, in order to get better photographs.

Bornean Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron schleiermacheri) - arrived at Waddeston in 2016. 5 years.

These were only ever held by HWP (the only previous holder) during quarantine. Not sure you can count these as a returning species as the birds at Waddesdon are offspring of the original (private) import.

I'm aware of both of these points it's still a species that was held in a public collection, then was not, and now is again. In any case, the odds are good that some of the other bird species we have re-obtained are also from the same general stock as the original captive population.

In terms of mammals, the Fanaloka is another similar example.

Bornean Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron schleiermacheri) - this taxon was last held in 2011 at Highland Wildlife Park, where a number of pairs were quarantined off-show on behalf of the World Pheasant Association. There are no images of this taxon within the Zoochat gallery.

Pink Fairy Armadillo (Chlamyphorus truncatus) - last held in the early 1990's at Cotswold Wildlife Park. The only image of this taxon within the Zoochat gallery is a photograph of a taxidermy specimen.
