Is Prague, a strong candidate for the best zoo in Europe, really going to tumble out of the competition? Is it the luck of the draw that is seeing zoos like Prague, Pairi Daiza, Miami and Burgers all get booted...or what other explanation can there be? Burgers' Zoo has superb exhibits but not a huge collection of animals, but those other zoos are massive, all-day zoos with not only lots of species but also very good exhibits. This tournament is throwing up some curveballs and that is making things very exciting.
I find it a bit strange that Prague (one of the best in Europe, probably currently the best for carnivores with the changes at both Berlin zoos) cannot beat Chester, which I'm not even sure is the best UK zoo for carnivores.

I find it strange that a zoo with seven on-show species is beating one with 36, all housed in enclosures ranging from good to fantastic (apart from the polar bears, who are getting a new enclosure)

To be fair you have your maths slightly wrong, it's something like 36-15 in Prague's favour, you have not counted the species at both zoos

You haven't even been there!
To be fair, neither have I, but I'm sure I've been to Chester many times more than some who have voted for it. Chester is a very good all round zoo, but Prague is too from what I've read on here and highly regarded by many who have voted for Chester here! Having not been to Prague, it is my number 1 target, primarily for its exciting carnivore collection, which blows Chester and most others out of sight for me, Chester's enclosures save it from 3-0 rather than make it a winner!

And certainly not much of the rest of Europe either, it sounds like.
That doesn't mean I can't make judgements on things. An informed judgement is almost as good as an experienced one...
Yes, but it doesn’t exactly sound as though you’re informed, does it?

Am I uninformed though? I'm more likely to vote 3-0 Prague than 2-1 Chester, as I said, even though I've been to Chester more than some who have voted for it, Prague's collection is considerably better!

Just in case you haven't heard of a mistake, all humans or semi-humanoids make them. I would like to draw to your attention that I have supplied every single photograph in this thread, along with both species lists. So please stop reiterating what others have said. At least TLD had the grace to turn it into something to laugh about...

The vontsira and the boky are the main things from keeping me from voting 3-0 Prauge.

So many more species (including rarities like the hyena) give Prauge an easy v-1 vote IMO.

Looking at the exhibits from both zoos and the species lists from both zoos, Prague wins on a purely objective scale. Over twice as many species, better collection in terms of conservation value as well as visitor value and admittedly slightly less good quality enclosures.

I would say it point blank is the best zoo in Europe...
I think Prague does certainly deserve to get close to winning this competition, which is part of the reason why I am campaigning for it...

Then please stop.

The single over-arching rule that matters more than anything is that you vote purely based on the category under discussion, and your post above suggests you are not currently following that rule.

But you didn't state that Prague "...point blank is the best zoo in Europe..." without ever having been there. Voting on which is arguably a better zoo for carnivores is very different from what @amur leopard was stating.

....and contradicts his initial claims that

I did not immediately start off with a pre-set idea of who I wanted to win, I don't do that

On another note, I can see I'll have a ridiculous amount to say once I get out from work and have more than 30 second moments to devote to a post.
