On Facebook the zoo has officially said they will receive three females to join their four males. Last I checked there were five, so I have contacted the zoo asking who has left them and for what reason. Currently confirmed to still be in the group are Conan (the dominant male) and Wonder. It is unconfirmed who out of Jorg, Bastiaan and Roy is no longer at the zoo.
This morning the zoo confirmed to me that in November 2016 eldest of the group Bastiaan passed away after a long-term illness. This therefore leaves (in order of age from oldest to youngest) Jorg, Conan, Wonder and Roy.
The three females' identities have been made know:
- Cauna (born 2007, coming from Copenhagen)
- Panja (born 2008, coming from Osnäbruck)
- Lila (born 2009, coming from Osnäbruck)

After only 7.5 months at the zoo, and with a 7 month gestation period, the pileated gibbons have had a baby.

France has the joint largest number of zoos in Europe with pileateds along with the UK. Both have four collections with the species. As for breeding wise, Asson Zoo no longer breed to my knowledge (they just have a single female now if I'm not wrong), Parc de Branféré breeds them irregularly, Mulhouse Zoo breeds them regularly and Vallée des Singes have just had their first baby

Thanks for the info, Jake. What about Europe in general? The most recent statistic I saw on pileateds was that they were around 50 with a positive growth rate, but I don't remember where or how up to date it was so the population may well be larger now.
Getting slightly off topic with this but 17 zoos in Europe keep a total of 63 gibbons at the moment.
Earlier this week a Crowned lemur was born at La Vallee des Singes .

The enclosure was to be a hectare of forest land that could surely have become the most beautiful enclosure for this monkey in the world.

As with most zoo building projects this year, given the current circumstances I would probably wager it’s been postponed....
I was informed construction was due to start in 2020, not opening.
