I actually hate the idea of an African exhibit at Minnesota. It would overall diminish the uniqueness of the zoo, IMO.

Yeh I kinda agree. But maybe meerkats or fenic foxes or naked Mole rats would be nice. Just for like a small indoor exhibit

I don’t know if it’s a matter of cancellation or renaming but San Diego Zoo had something that was called Animal House which was to be a renovation of the ambassador animal building. The only proof I have of it’s existence is an email confirming my 10 dollar donation and some coasters they sent with a thank you note. Perhaps this was repurposed as for the upcoming Children’s Zoo.
San Diego Safari Park had some sort of mountain zebra exhibit planed but the specifics are rough.

Agreed, I really liked what they did with faces of the African forest. Also unrelated to the Minnesota zoo, I’m pretty sure that the Denver zoos master plan is canceled due to the opening of harmony hill grizzly bear exhibit but correct me if I’m wrong
Tropical Rainforest Area in Taipei Zoo, despite it do opened in the form of a completely trash, which is nothing like their original plan.
Where would they put a new park nowadays? I can't imagine anywhere where it snowed in the winter.
It is sad not to see an Asian highlands exhibit come to fruition or an expansion of the Tropics Trail.

Sorry for being so late to this, but on the topic of Denver’s Master Plan, I think it has been altered, but not cancelled. Denver is constructing the Animal Hospital right now, and plan on moving their Penguins towards the entrance to add to their coastal region. It’s my assumption that instead of focusing solely upon the North Pacific, Denver may just create a general coastal region, with everything from stingrays to penguins to Sea Lions. Perhaps they will further renovate harmony hill to become more transitionary in order to represent the more northern Alaskan Grizzly Bear populations. I hope the master plan hasn’t been cancelled as it looked really unique and interesting.
i believe the new penguin exhibit is in fact a major re-working of the existing banded mongoose/porcupine exhibits built as part of the “Samburu“ area at the zoo’s entry. It’s quite distant from the coastal exhibits you mention.
With a new director In Denver I can almost guarantee that the former director’s master plan is likely to be replaced or radically altered—that’s just how it works.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the master plan was altered but if you examine the current master plan map, the coastal zone was/ is planned to go all the way up to ‘Building A’ Which also borders where the penguins are planned to move in. The recently opened Stingray Bay also opened where the Striped Hyena yard once was which is also very close to where the Penguins are moving in, so to me it seems as though the Coastal theme will still be present even if Polar Bears will be replaced with Grizzlies.
It looks like a nice exhibit complex, what year was this?

Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park on one of their earlier master plans h(itaxa like Jaguar (Panthera onca), Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus), Lowland paca (Cuniculus paca), Pacarana (Dinomys branickii), White lipped peccary (Tayassu pecari), and Manatees (probably Trichechus manatus). From a guide to United States zoos written in 1991, it mentioned that they had plans to start construction on an exhibit for Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) that was due to open 1993, but unfortunately that didn't happen either. I would have especially loved to see and photograph the Pacarana and White lipped peccaries.
The Brandywine Zoo in Delaware had a plan to build an Amazon Rainforest Building with macaws, an aviary, tamarins, Dwarf Caimans, anteaters, Capybaras, sloths, fish, reptiles, sakis, coatis, bats, Brazilian Porcupines, toucans, and a Jaguar. It was cancelled, but it would have been a game changer, because it's a really small zoo. They have a master plan that they have started construction on, but this part of it won't be included anymore. The tamarins, capybara, sloth, and Jaguar are in the new master plan, but I really would have liked the building, especially the anteater.

Is saint Louis zoos master plan cancelled? It looked really cool and I would have loved to see it happen. The primate complex contradicts the plan but is it still is it a possibility the plan is still in tact?
In the Master Plan, there are two things I want to add. Inside the Faces of the Rainforest exhibit, the inside was completely changed. There was supposed to be a touch tank and an underwater viewing tank for Amazonian fish species. Also, there was supposed to be a mixed exhibit for maned wolves and giant anteaters, but they never brought the maned wolves.

Interesting, I've seen a plan for the rainforest before but the title said the plan was for Moscow. There are some interesting ideas in the master plan. It appears pudus, sloths, and flamingoes would all live together.
