Edmonton Valley Zoo Edmonton Valley Zoo

A male red necked wallaby, Miro, was born to mom Lexa and dad Hitoki. He has begun emerging from the pouch so he will be visible to guests when they return.

Wonderful news, the zoo has welcomed its first Canadian Lynx kitten! Mom is Xena originally from Assiniboine Park Zoo, and Dad is Sherman, originally from Northwest Trek in the US. Both are first time parents (and xena is a respectable 8 years old, nonetheless!). This is also the first notable birth in several years for the zoo that isn't a red panda, takin, or callimico.

The camel calf is a female and has been named Tuyaa.

One of the zoo's Speckle Park cows gave birth to a female calf. The calf is pretty cute. looks like she wanted to be a panda but didn't quite succeed. Unique looking for a cow at least in my limited
experience with cows.

A male Canadian lynx kitten was born May 30. The zoo is asking for name suggestions on their facebook page.

Male red panda, Tango, has arrived back at the zoo from Winnipeg. He will be back in the panda house with his dad Kalden and half sister Paprika. His new mate should be Kiki coming up from Milwaukee provided she can come up.

Time for a red panda swap. Edmonton born Paprika is going to Toronto to breed with male Suva (sadly her nephew so eww) while Toronto born Adira will swap places to potentially breed with Kalden (sadly her great grandfather). Not a great genetic swap at all but my guess is covid is to blame. Get the girls breeding with proven males and possibly swap out for better matches when the border is open.
