Chester Zoo Chester Zoo News 2020

I’ve heard that the older set of red panda babies are now moved into where the Moloch gibbons were in RoTRA. Can anyone confirm as would seem a huge space for 2 juvenile pandas
I was told they are in there, but forgot to look when checking out the baby Orang. Would they be sharing?

Are there any signs up about Leia's baby? I haven't seen any media announcements about the birth and doubt that any other zoos would be so cool about a new orang!

Could be a Chester PR team plan, having no problem selling tickets, so hold back until some good PR is needed, like the bears, only announced when tickets went back on sale.

I didn't notice, but I was focused on trying to get a photo or two; the volunteer/staff present were very helpful

A quick few updates and questions from my visit 18/08/2020

Saw a single piglet in the Visayan Warty Pig exhibit
They now appear to have 11 Elegant Crested Tinamou
Saw the Lowland Anoa outside for the first time in a couple of years
Red Panda's young now in Realm of the Red Ape in the Silvery Gibbon exhibit with the gibbons in the back part.
Monsoon forest exhibit coming along nicely
The aviary (ex flamingo) seems to have stopped
Both bird walk throughs in Islands now open

Anyone know what's happened to the Luzon scops owl in the Realm of the Red Ape?

All true, just as grasslands is a restaurant and a giraffe paddock and not much else. Not that people believe that
Grasslands is going to be a Savannah with Giraffe, zebra, ostrich and Roen antelope. There will also be a restraunt and overnight staying. And it will also be home to warthogs, ardvarks, dik-dik and african bird species along with some venomous snakes according to planning.

A query re. Paignton’s proposed import of Banteng: are there surplus animals in Chesters herd that could be moved? Does anyone know if Edinburgh & WMSP are also in a position to move Banteng on? Many thanks.

I dearly hope that the Tinamou are not yet another species of bird lost from Paignton? Chesters gain if so - they are such a charismatic ratite.

I'm pretty sure I saw a clutch of green eggs a few months ago, so possibly chicks bred at the zoo.

I just hope that the scops owls haven't left the collection, always thought they were a quirky addition & enjoyed the challenge of trying to spot them too!

I understand that Marwell will be looking to get Banteng in the future.

I am well aware of what the plans say, believe me all they are is plans or a great work of fiction.

Members bookings for weekends now being taken for remain of September & all October weekends.
Hope this helps people
