They did not only receive males, I was informed they received 3.3 new birds (not sure of their origin though).

Ahh great! I didnt know this import also contained females, but that would bring up the total amount to 3.5 . Got the info from the Zie-Zoo which only mentioned "several" birds and that "males" were received.

Yesterday evening two lion cubs were born in front of the public. At the moment they are behind the scenes and doing well.

The two lion cubs born in July, turned out to be a male and a female.
The triplet born last month are all females.

That is a good thing for the breeding program.

I just been informed on the SEAZA sun bear program. This could become another WAZA Global program. SEAZA holds both Malayan mainland and Bornean (smaller population).

A pair of Sumatran Laughingthrushes will move in with the Satyr Tragopans and a group of 8 Waldrapp will join the Cinereous Vultures.

Next year they also expect to receive Vietnam Pheasants for the Bush. The goal is to collect behavioural data in a semi-natural environment, which can be used for eventual re-introductions.

Thats a great news. The waldrap is not only of my favourite species. But the Burger's Zoo realy could show more endangered european species. There are so many species, like European ground squirrel or European hamsters wjo need some love.
