Species of animals exclusively kept in Japan?

Oh wow my bad, then I'm only right about the Galago but we're not even sure the animal really exists. Thanks for the correction. Is the Japanese Serow population stable, are they breeding or is it slowly vanishing in the US?

I am not sure how is the situation in USA, but Calgary is a part of the SSP. They had a newborn this summer.

Apologies if this is too far off-topic, but the answer is a bit of both.

Japanese Serows were a bit more wide-spread in the early 2010's with LA, Woodland Park and San Diego all holding them. For whatever reason, these 3 zoos lost the species, limiting the population. Trevor Zoo had a pretty large group before 5 of them died in a single year; currently they only have one animal.

Fortunately, the Canadian population is doing a bit better. Calgary has held them for a while and has had quite a few births over the years. Granby got Serows pretty recently (2018/2019) and they had a birth in 2020.

Yes, but the trafficking routes are fairly simple in terms of lorises due to the proximity of Japan to South-East Asia.

Somalia is another case entirely though.

The galago could have been shipped to SE Asia before arriving to Japan.
