Actually, the photograph in question is once again located within the Hamerton gallery, and has been for some time now - the reason the "zoo guides and maps" subgallery has been deactivated from public access is precisely
because (after discussion between the moderators and
@Simon Hampel where the benefits to the site of allowing such images were raised by ourselves, and the fact that several of us believed this would fall under "fair use" as far as copyright is concerned) the upload of zoo-guide photographs is now explicitly permitted as long as it takes place within the gallery of the zoo involved and is tagged as such. As such the "zoo guide" gallery is no longer required.
I think this might not have been fully communicated outwards, hence the confusion - but this is what Simon said at the time:
To summarise policy:
- books and guides and other photos of material which is zoo-specific should go in the category for that zoo and be tagged
- photos of books which are not zoo specific (ie cover multiple zoos or are general in nature) should go in the Books about Zoos & Wildlife - ZooChat category
The upshot of all of this is, this thread is perfectly fine where it is and does not need to be deleted.
