Yes, I agree with you. I think we'll have iconic zoo animals being released for a long time still; all of them payed, and part of a DLC, so that people can keep buying these expansions, once there will always be worthy animals...
When I bought the game, there were already two DLC's, and the Australia one was on it's way. I knew it would be quite expensive to keep buying every update, so I payed to play in a shared account. You play offline, but only yourself has access to your own zoos, and pay such a small amount to get the updates, once it's divided with all people that play in that account. It's working great for me.

I really doubt it because those popular animals are the hook to make people buy the DLCs. It's not like a casual gamer would spend precious bucks in the Arctic pack because of the Dall sheep. Or the Australia pack because of the skink (of course that's a possibility among us zoo nerds).

Free animals could be those similar to those we already have in the base game (that would mean the devs don't need to make new rigs and models from scratch); animals that could be popular yet not that crucial to fill one of the coveted 5 slots in a DLC. For example a black-and-white ruffed lemur, Sumatran tiger, Grevy's zebra, Caribbean flamingo or a number of pit vipers or boas.

The custom billboards and signs was something I really expected after knowing it was a feature in Planet Coaster, so I might find myself creating my signs well on advance!
 
Something I have noted on the subject of aviaries; the mechanics are available, at least to a certain extent. The new Prehistoric Kingdom teaser shows Microraptor flying in an aviary. I am aware Prehistoric Kingdom is not by Frontier, I am observing that flying mechanics are indeed out there and thus it shouldn't be unreasonable to expect aviaries in Planet Zoo. Particularly as the footage of PK reminds me a great deal of PZ gameplay.

Pretty sure they are like the exhibit animals though. Its not like the habitat animals that have traversable areas.

That was my take as well, with the limited video released of Prehistoric Kingdom so far. Nonetheless if we could get some birds that way I wouldn't be against it.

By the way i would Like to have at least Every Animal Species of Zoo Tycoon 2 ultimate collection and 70 new Species from the Base Game including birds, Habitat Iguanas and custom Made Aviarys, Aquariums and vivariums.

Sometimes i would Like to have an Zoo Game which was custom Made us for Zoo nerds
 
A new free update has been announced for March 30th - features including the ability to have multiple zoo entrances, being able to manually change water clarity, the already mentioned custom billboards and deep diving for the gharials.

Considering that a DLC pack has always been released in close synchrony to these updates, there will hopefully be some more information on that coming soon.

The staff traversable area map and multi-select for animals will save a lot of time, especially in franchise.
 
Try the nexus mods - plenty of free to download animals there :)

Not used any myself yet - I'm in my final year of university, so waiting to finish up before getting back into PZ. However, I believe they've now changed the mods so that they're a new animal entirely, rather than taking the place of an existing one.

Seems to be a mix of both of the new and old forms.

Anyone use them?

Yes more than 4 animals!! :D I can’t wait to see all but I am kinda sad that we will get no new building stuff.
