Dumbest One star zoo reviews

Found some from my local zoo, the Capron Park Zoo:
1. "zoos are horrible, this place is no exception. Euthanize bears much?"
2. "They don't have Alligators or Crocodiles."
3. "Boring"
4. "ATTENTION !!! YOU CAN'T GO IN AT AFTER 15:00 !!! Information only on their website !!!"
5. "The enclosures for the leopard, lion and tiger are so small! They have no room to run, they’re all depressed and stressed out pacing back and fourth! They don’t play and just constantly look sad. The poor Mikey doesn’t even have any real trees, leaves or vines to climb on! This zoo has all the room to expand and give these animals more! That’s the last the could do! Please please please do more for these animals. It’s bad enough they are held captive their whole lives in Tiny enclosures for people’s happiness! At least give them what they deserve!" [Note- the zoo does not have a tiger, and has not for at least seventeen years].
In all honesty I find number five to be valid. I have not been there myself, so I cannot say if they are overreacting, but I also find the majority of zoo exhibits to be too small.

If they are concerned about expanding exhibit size, that is valid. However I find it ridiculous that it mentions a small Tiger exhibit when the zoo has not held tigers for at least seventeen years, likely a lot longer. There is also the misspelling of monkey as "mikey", which is something odd. There is also no room to expand without enfringing on highly-utilized sections of the public park, so I don't know where they got the notion that the zoo has "all the room to expand".

Ok fair enough. I thought Mikey was the name of one of the animals!

Nope- no animal named Mikey. They might be talking about the zoo's lemurs, but it could also be the debrazza monkey(s), who live in this habitat-

The exhibit is definitely nothing special, but I would not call it a "bad" exhibit for two monkeys.

I found this review from the Lincoln Park Zoo:

"On a sunny Sunday morning we walked here from Downtown. A terrible mistake!
The zoo is tiny – in my opinion, far too small for the animals ‘displayed’ there. There seems to be a solitary polar bear (huddled in a cave) and rhino.
I know that zoos claim to be involved in conservation (though there is little evidence worldwide that this IS the case) but this one fails on all counts. Animals displayed stressed behaviour and numbers were far too small.
Though this zoo has a long history, maybe it’s time that we realised that animals shouldn’t be displayed for our amusement?"

The part that I highlighted is the part I mainly hate. It's not like LPZ has a whole page on their website called "Conservation & Science." o_O

Taronga Western Plains Zoo 1 star reviews:

“small animal enclosures...”

Also... “There was one Tiger only and that was asleep.”

And this one is the entire review... “Not much gifts in the gift shop”

And who plans to take their dog to the zoo? “We didn't get to have an experience there, as we are travelling in a caravan with 2 small, vaccinated dogs. Got to the main gate to find we could not go past there with them.... WHY isn't that put in brochures.”

“THE ZOO KEEPER DIDN'T LET ME IN LION ENCLOSURE”

About taking dogs into zoos, Cotswold Wildlife Park does allow dogs to be taken into the zoo which is unusual in the UK. There are though two 1 star reviews from people who took their dog complaining that some parts are off limits to dogs (indoor an walk through exhibits and food areas, etc) or that they are not allowed to let their dog off the lead.

Bronx Zoo:
May 2021
Most of the day was spent walking long distances to get to the exhibits. The shuttle is not a hop-on- hop off and only picks up at one end and drops off at another, which means more walking to get to see the animals. Only saw one, elephant, two Siberian Tigers, one red Panda, some deer. Very disappointing. not to see numerous wildlife in one of the supposedly best zoos in the world. Long lines and wait times to get to see animals and this was a weekday, will not be recommending a visit to the zoo and will not be returning aver again.

Looking at Omaha's, someone was complaining the Cat Complex and bear exhibits were closed. They've been closed for like five years. This review was from three weeks ago.

Also some person gave it a one star review and called the place, quote "Best zoo you will ever see!"

Someone also said there were "Too much animal"

This one just made me laugh, "These people are holding animals against their will. They have a really nice gift shop though"

Someone was mad that the IMAX theater, here's the quote "I don't want to see dumb zoo movies. Play better movies like Grown ups 2. Will not return to this theater."

This one makes me confused, considering it's a one star review "Finally went into the Desert Dome saw many photogenic animals"

Someone complains about their "freedom of speech", "The zoo infringed on my right for self expression and freedom of speech. Wouldn't allow me to purchase my way in because my shirt "wasn't family friendly."

My favorite review, which is, and I quote "DONT"

Two things that come up regularly on Tripadvisor:
*’enclosures were too small. Animals didn’t have enough space’.
*’enclosures were too big. Couldn’t see the animals’.
:)

Of course a genuine problem for enclosure designers, but does feel a tad ridiculous when one sees both criticisms applied to the same exhibit by different users :P.
