It is nice to see the zoo ties developing over Continents (Italy to Japan import)!Saitama children's zoo received plains viscacha from Zoo Delle Maitine. This is the first time viscachas have been in japan since 2003. They were initially planned to be exhibited with the opening of the small mammal house but due to complications they came a bit later than desired.

The male Zel (short for Zelkova, a tree from Prefecture Saitama) was born on May 13 in 2020. Parents not named. He was part of the pair sent to Kobe Animal Kingdom this June.1 quokka died and a 1.1 pudu is being sent to Kobe animal kingdom.

FYI: another pudu would have been born in July 2020 too as the newspaper article cites they can now compare calf development. Possibly born July 16, 2020.
